I've owned five caprices in my life various year models, I recently own two a 85 and 82, I've had the 85 going on 10 years it had 82,000 orig. Miles on it now it has 160,000 and I've had no problem out of it besides the usual belt and altenator. Its been the most reliable car I have ever had and I don't want to own anything else but a box caprice, which are the best models. I've had the the 82 four going on five year, now that one was a different story, I had problem out of it from day one, I've replaced the cam, carbarator, fuel pump, altenator(expected), ac compressor.but now it runs tip-top without a problem. I still drive both on 800 mile road trips with the family and don't have to worry about a problem, that your more likely to get with a new model car, at least if the caprice breaks down on a roadtrip I'm more likely to be able to work on it on the side of the road. Try doing that with a new model car!
