Description Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Dodge Nitro 4X2 vehicles manufactured March 21, 2006, through March 1, 2008; and 2008 Jeep Liberty 4X2 vehicles manufactured February 15, 2007, through March 1, 2008. The transfer case heat shield may drop down and rub on the drive shaft, weakening it and potentially causing the drive shaft to break.
Consequences If the drive shaft breaks, a section of it can strike the transfer case tunnel with enough force that the airbag computer will believe the vehicle is in a crash and thus deploy the airbags. Additionally, the drive shaft failure will result in a loss of motive power. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will add a bracket to support the rear of the heat shield, free of charge. An interim letter was mailed to owners on May 29, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N10.

We have had three instances of our 2007 Nitro dying while on the road, fortunately we were able to get it off the road. we took it to the local Dodge dealer in 2015 on a drive shaft Recall and after getting it fixed asked dealer to check Electrical recall, dealer said that recall had been fixed in 2009. In 2016 my wife had one stall on the road in the Nitro and then we went to the dealer again and reported the stalling but they did nothing to correct the Electrical Problem, saying it had already been handled. I told them the recall of Electrical problem was far from fixed because on the way home from the dealership, the Nitro acted up and when we got home, It died. I charged the battery that had been drawn down by something and could only be started by Fully charging the battery. The Dealership let us leave the dealership in a defective dodge Nitro and have not contacted us since. Holy Toledo!

I have a 2007 dodge nitro which I bought three years ago with 20,000 thousand miles and now have 92,000 on it and all I have done is brake, oil changes thats it. I now am having issues with ABS, but still remain completely satisfied with it's performance for the price with 4x4 option any car can be a lemon hope you don'T GET ONE THANKS

Do you drive a 2007 DODGE NITRO?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
