12/4/2012 - Robert King
I own a 1988 Ford F-250 2WD Regular Cab Truck and while driving down the road which was a progressive hill, I smelled something burning. When I tried to brake to pull off to the side of the road the brake pedal went all the way to the floor until the emergency brake engaged on its own. When I inspected the right-side brake area I saw smoke pouring out out from behind the caliper and pad area (which is covered by a thin metal disk with vent holes in it). I had to drive the truck about two miles back to my house and the pedal continued to touch the floor. After allowing the brakes to cool down, I drove it around the block and they began to work properly again. I am not sure what action(s) to take, or if this would be covered under the recall repair orders that were issued. If anyone has any information please let me know.
