RECALL FOR FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER : STORAGE : FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2009 TITAN, ARMADA, AND INFINITI QX56 VEHICLES. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE MAY INACCURATELY DISPLAY THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS SOME FUEL, TYPICALLY ABOUT ONE QUARTER TANK, WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.

Description NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2009 TITAN, ARMADA, AND INFINITI QX56 VEHICLES. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE MAY INACCURATELY DISPLAY THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS SOME FUEL, TYPICALLY ABOUT ONE QUARTER TANK, WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.
Consequences THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
Corrective action DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL SENDER UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW IMPROVED SENDER CARD. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

Great SUV for the family. Unfortunately after few years become not reliable. Even with maintenance performed following manufacturer recommendations fails. Brakes light come on, booster fail, etc. After first $800 spent prepare to have lights on for faulty sensors, etc. Did I said is made in America?

I have had my car for 5 years now and over all it is in great shape. However the heater actuators have broke, this is a common problem on the Titans and the Nissans. I don't abuse my car and have about 60,000 miles on it. The estimate to fix it is over 1K. I maintain all my maintence on my vehicle and there have been no signs that something was wrong until the clicking started. This problem always accurs after 60,000 miles from what I have read and been told. I was also told it is a design flaw and the only way to get Nissan to change this is to complain.
