Description |
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, IOWA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, KENTUCKY, MASSACHUSETTS, MAINE, MARYLAND, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, TENNESSEE, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA , WISCONSIN AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, DURING THE COATING PROCESS OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE ASSEMBLY, AN INSUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF COATING MAY HAVE BEEN APPLIED AT THE LOWER MOUNTING BRACKET. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN OPENING IN THE COATING WHICH CAN ALLOW WATER TO ENTER AND MAKE CONTACT WITH THE BARE METAL OF THE TUBE. |
Consequences |
THIS MAY RESULT IN SURFACE RUST BUT NOT PERFORATION OF THE TUBE. HOWEVER, IN THOSE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WHICH USE HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER, IF A MIXTURE OF SNOW/WATER AND SALT MAKES CONTACT WITH THE BARE METAL, CORROSION MAY OCCUR TO A DEGREE WHICH RESULTS IN PERFORATION OF THE TUBE. IN THIS CASE FUEL LEAKAGE MAY OCCUR WHEN FILLING THE TANK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. |
Corrective action |
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER TUBE ASSEMBLY WITH A NEW ONE WITH AN IMPROVED COATING PROCESS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 26, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261. |

It's been a miserable process. I had my car inspected in 2010 by independent mechanic because nissan would not work on the right wheel well . The mechanic repair right strut and rusted wheel well along with damage to master cylinder . In 2010 and 2011 a nissan dealership told me my car was good to go. After. Found out about the recall I brought it in for inspection and was told my car was good and a hour later a second call that it needed to be sprayed then the next day that i was told my car is not drivable. The third day a notice was sent to Mosley to Handel my case . Then on the forth day I'm told the nissan will repair the car by addng a brace. It's been very frustration . I need to be reimbursed for the work Front driver side strut, housing and bearings were destroyed,I put into repairing the before and after the recall.nissan please Handel this concern or I will not be purchasing a car again . Have owed 4 nissan since the 90s

11/6/11 I too was told the car was not repairable and that they wanted to buy back the pathfinder. The vehicle is a dealership, who says they have at least 10 pathfinders on their lot that have been there since August waiting for the "buy back". Will Nissau reimbursement me for insurance and registration fees while I'm unable to use the vehicle. I feel they should.
