The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is an office from the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The ODI investigates defects & issues safety recalls to support the NHTSA's objective to improve highway safety in the United States.
NHTSA can order manufacturers to issue recalls & repair vehicles when an ODI investigation finds a serious safety defects in their design, construction, or performance. Before starting an investigation, the ODI will review the body of consumer complaints and other data to see if a trend exist. You can
