2003 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE RECALL - #05V163000
RECALL FOR SEAT BELTS : REAR/OTHER
ON CERTAIN CREW CAB PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE 2ND ROW CENTER OCCUPANT SEAT BELT ROUTING MAY MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO POSITION THE LAP PORTION OF THE SAFETY BELT LOW AROUND THE HIPS OF OCCUPANTS, ESPECIALLY SMALLER OCCUPANTS, SEATED IN THIS POSITION. APPROPRIATE USE OF A CHILD SEAT OR BOOSTER SEAT, AS RECOMMENDED FOR SMALL CHILDREN, DOES IMPROVE THE FIT CONDITION FOR THIS USER GROUP. IN ADDITION TO INSTRUCTIONS ON PROPER INFANT AND YOUNG CHILD RESTRAINT (WITH CHILD SEATS OR BOOSTERS), SPECIAL VERBIAGE FOR RESTRAINING OLDER CHILD IS INCLUDED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. ALSO, THE SUGGESTED SEAT BELT FIT/ROUTING FOR ADULTS, IRRESPECTIVE OF SEATING POSITION, IS DESCRIBED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL TEXT.

Consequences |
A LAP PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT ROUTING THAT IS NOT LOW AND SNUG ON THE HIPS CAN ALLOW THE LAP BELT TO RIDE UP ON AN OCCUPANT'S ABDOMEN INSTEAD OF FITTING LOW AROUND THEIR HIPBONES, AND THEREFORE, CAN EXPOSE THEM TO MORE RISK OF ABDOMINAL AND INTERNAL ORGAN INJURY. |

I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche which use to run perfect until a month ago. It just one day decided to just turn off while I was driving with no warnings or anything. I researched it and there is a bunch of problems with this truck from what I have found. I fixed everything that could be the possible problem, but it still does not want to run proper, it keeps stalling out.

Hace had the doors just lock by themselves, the brakes on the drivers side front has a crubbing sound that is felt in the peddle and the ABS light came on, also the pitman arm and passenger side front wheel bearing whent out at the same time. The instrument panel was replaced on a recall but I had to pay for the transfer case shifter buttons and their replacement but even now they still show neutral sometimes and have thrown a transfer case code on the OBC readout. The brake problem and transfer case problem are very concerning for my wife and myown safty. The doors locking has left me locked out 50 miles from help on two occasions and each time it was when a Military Helicopter was fling over within a mile or so.

I have been having problems with my ABS Moduile. I have had the problem for over 6 months. Everytime I go to brake the ABS kicks in. I have had my Module change 2 times now, had my Wheel sensors replaced both front and back. When my Mechanical put his computer on my vehicle at a full stop it said my wheels were still turn at 5 KM per hour. I don't know if I am at the right place to complain or to find out if I should see if it has had a recall about this problem. I have spent alot of money and time and my problem is still with me.
