RECALL FOR FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE : FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINI VANS BUILT WITH 3.3L AND 3.8L ENGINES HAVE FUEL RAILS WITH NITROLE RUBBER O-RING SEALS THAT CAN DEGRADE OVER TIME. FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE UNDERHOOD FUEL INJECTION FUEL RAIL COULD RESULT, INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF A VEHICLE FIRE.

FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE. |
Corrective action |
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SEAL ON THE VEHICLE FUEL RAILS TO PREVENT EXTERNAL LEAKAGE OF FUEL FROM THE FUEL RAIL CROSSOVER TUBE, SHOULD THE EXISTING O-RINGS CONTINUE TO DEGRADE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JANUARY 25, 2002. DUE TO THE LARGE QUANTITY OF VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THIS CAMPAIGN, THE OWNER NOTIFICATION WILL BE PHASED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. HOWEVER, IF A VEHICLE IS LEAKING FUEL FROM THE O-RINGS, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO A DEALER TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. |

I have owned this van for 9 years . The worst problem is that during wet weather the serpentine belt comes off, leaving you unable to steer the van, then you are stuck in traffic trying to put the belt back on.
there are numerous reports of this, yet Chrysler refuses to acknowledge problem. Several aftermarket parts manufacturers even make a retrofit kit to stop belt coming off.

we still our 1997 town and country lxi van After 130K miles and great service it has been a good vehicle. When the car was still under warrantee, we brought it in with a sound when turning left just as one of the TSB stated. Chrysler service found no problem yet we continued to have the problem. After all these years and several attempts from Chrysler repair, I went to solve the problem myself. Broken sway bar bushings just like the service from 1998 stated. I fixed this problem myself. Now I find my rear view mirrors keeps falling off. There as several service bulletins or recalls on review mirrors for this year model. I generally get this type of recall notice.
I still like your produces but wish that the service problems with critical items were better handled by Chrysler.
