Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain engine block heaters, with part numbers GJ7Z-6A051-BA and GJ7Z-6A051-AA, sold as accessory parts. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 2,571 units affected.

Description:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain engine block heaters, with part numbers GJ7Z-6A051-BA and GJ7Z-6A051-AA, sold as accessory parts. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
Consequeces:
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until their vehicle is remedied. Dealers will contact customers with instructions to return the part for a full refund or dealers will replace the block heater once a newly designed part is available, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SA5.
