Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas, Inc. (Toyo) is recalling certain OPEN Country H/T Tuff Duty tires, sizes LT235/85 R16 120Q, LT245/75 R16 120R, LT265/75 R16 123Q, LT265/70 R17 121R, LT225/75 R17 116Q, LT235/80 R17 120R, LT285/75 R16 126Q, and Nitto Dura Grappler Highway Terrain Dura-Belt sizes LT245/75 R17 121Q, LT265/70 R17 121Q, LT265/75 R16 123Q, and LT275/65 R18 123Q. Due to stress on the belt edge, the affected tires may experience tread/belt separation.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 175,310 units affected.

Description:: Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas, Inc. (Toyo) is recalling certain OPEN Country H/T Tuff Duty tires, sizes LT235/85 R16 120Q, LT245/75 R16 120R, LT265/75 R16 123Q, LT265/70 R17 121R, LT225/75 R17 116Q, LT235/80 R17 120R, LT285/75 R16 126Q, and Nitto Dura Grappler Highway Terrain Dura-Belt sizes LT245/75 R17 121Q, LT265/70 R17 121Q, LT265/75 R16 123Q, and LT275/65 R18 123Q. Due to stress on the belt edge, the affected tires may experience tread/belt separation.
Consequeces:: Tread/belt separation may result in a sudden loss of tire inflation pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Toyo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2014. Owners may contact Toyo customer service at 1-800-442-8696.

NITTO DURA GRAPPLER HIGHWAY TERRAIN DURA-BELT Complaints
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with Nitto Tires, Tire Line: Ridge Grapplers, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that upon having the vehicle State Inspected, the State Inspector observed excessive dry rot to the tread of all four tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the State Inspector's assessment however, the tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but required the contact to cover the cost of replacing the tires. The failure mileage was 15,000. The consumer stated that they were given a partial credit to buy a new set of tires of the same brand. They also stated that a recall should be placed on these tires due to the fact that the other set of tires has the same exact problem. The consumer is requesting a full refund so that they may purchase new tires from a different brand.;
TOYO OPEN COUNTRY H/T/ TUFF DUTY Complaints
The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-250 equipped with Toyo tires, Tire Line: HT Open Country, Tire Size: LT265/75/R16, DOT Number: CXLTCAK4815. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and felt like the front tires were bouncing. The contact veered to the side of the road, where he noticed that the tires were deformed. The contact continued to drive. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the tread belt was separating. The front tires were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred with the rear tires. The vehicle was taken to an independent tire mechanic where the rear tires were replaced under an unknown recall. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred on the front tires. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The tires were not replaced. The tires were replacement equipment. The tire failure mileage was 30,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 230,000.;
