Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year 2015 Challenger

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Challenger, Four Winds 5000, Hurricane, Miramar, Chateau Citation, Chateau, Windsport, and Palazzo motorhomes manufactured April 24, 2014, to December 11, 2014, and equipped with certain Latitude awnings manufactured by Carefree of Colorado. The affected awnings may have screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets that were not manufactured to specification.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 154 units affected.

Description:: Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Challenger, Four Winds 5000, Hurricane, Miramar, Chateau Citation, Chateau, Windsport, and Palazzo motorhomes manufactured April 24, 2014, to December 11, 2014, and equipped with certain Latitude awnings manufactured by Carefree of Colorado. The affected awnings may have screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets that were not manufactured to specification.
Consequeces:: The screws could fail, causing the supporting bracket to fail, and the awning to fall and potentially strike and injure a person beneath it.
Corrective action:: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will remove and replace the defective screws, free of charge. The recall began January 23, 2015. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC's number for this recall is RC000097.

2015 THOR PALAZZO Complaints
The contact owns a 2015 Thor Palazzo. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the rear driver’s side window detached from the motorhome and hit the road. The contact stated that he continued driving to his destination. The motorhome was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.;
2015 THOR MOTOR COACH CHALLENGER Complaints
The contact owns a 2015 Thor Challenger RV built on a 2014 Ford F-53 chassis. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, he observed from the passenger side rear view mirror that the door skin had begun to peel away from the door. The contact pulled off the roadway and observed that the skin had delaminated from the door and had only been held in place by the lock and door handle. The contact took the door handle and lock mechanism off and removed the laminate and stored it in the RV. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had attempted to contact the manufacturer and left a voice message requesting a call back. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V845000 (Structure) however, the RV’s VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.;
2015 THOR MOTOR COACH CHATEAU Complaints
2015 THOR, SK35 Super C Motorhome. Front cap over cab of chassis has defective hardware holding the front nose cap to the rear section of the main coach box. Screws are to small and break after just a few thousand miles. When the cap separates it causes vibrations and leaks to the Ford F 550 chassis.;

LEFT SIDE SUPPORT AWNING BRACKET (SOLERA) NEVER MECHANICALLY FASTENED TO THE COACH EXCEPT FOR TOP TWO SCREWS. NO SCREWS ON BOTTOM OF BRACKET. TRAVELING IN MOTION ON INTERSTATE WHEN SOLERA LEFT HAND SIDE AWNING SUPPORT RIPPED OFF COACH NARROWLY MISSING VEHICLES TRAVELING BEHIND US. COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED PEOPLE TRAVELING BEHIND US.
