Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to November 18, 2013, 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured November 29, 2011, to June 14, 2013, and 2014 QX60 vehicles manufactured May 16, 2013, to November 18, 2013, and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013. In the affected vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. The secondary latch may remain in the open position when the hood is closed.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 170,665 units affected.

Description:: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to November 18, 2013, 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured November 29, 2011, to June 14, 2013, and 2014 QX60 vehicles manufactured May 16, 2013, to November 18, 2013, and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013. In the affected vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. The secondary latch may remain in the open position when the hood is closed.
Consequeces:: If the primary hood latch is released and the secondary latch fails during operation of the vehicle, it could cause the hood to open during vehicle operation impairing the driver's vision, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Corrective action:: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable, free of charge. The recall began on March 9, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

2013 INFINITI JX35 Complaints
The contact owns a 2013 Infiniti JX35. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space, the vehicle hesitated while driving forward. After parking the vehicle, the contact later returned and started the vehicle; however, while driving a short distance, the vehicle suddenly lost automotive power and failed to properly accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was parked at a nearby parking lot and later towed to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 182,000.;
2014 INFINITI QX60 Complaints
While driving in slow, heavy highway traffic, the vehicle suffered a structural failure of the rear crossmember / rear subframe due to severe rust. This is a safety-critical structural component and part of the rear suspension mounting system. When braking, the vehicle swerved hard to the right and crossed into the shoulder. Fortunately, the vehicle was already in the right lane, which likely prevented a more serious incident. The failure created a serious risk of loss of control and crash. After the incident, I took it straight to a mechanic on the way and the condition was identified as a broken rear crossmember caused by advanced corrosion. The failed component is available for inspection.;
2014 INFINITI QX60 HYBRID Complaints
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine and HEV warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a leaking seal. The contact was informed that the seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated a month later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with misfires in the cylinder and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a monetary discount towards the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.;
2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER Complaints
2014 Nissan Parhfinder FWD Premium: this vehicles CVT joint failed that shirt the engine down to about 10 miles an hour immediately. Which caused me the driver to find a place to pull it off the road quickly. If a person or myself could not have a point to pull off the road or someone was behind then could have been rear ended the vehicle and major damage to the vehicle or person driving. Which there was and they were about to go around the pathfinder. The vehicle also may have blown the transmission. Unknown damage right now. But the pathfinder stalled out two times while driving it before it shut totally down on the hwy. I had contacted Nissan and we never got together on a date and time for a phone call with an Arbitration specialist. I had called them back several times and never could connect with them.;
2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER HYBRID Complaints
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE CONTACT WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE REPAIR COSTS FOR THE THIRD TRANSMISSION WOULD EXCEED $5,000. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT HEARD A BANG SOUND AND THE VEHICLE SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FIRST UNKNOWN DEALER CHARGED $300 TO TOW THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT HAVE A CERTIFIED HYBRID TECHNICIAN TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ROUTE 46 NISSAN (440 US-46, TOTOWA, NJ 07512, 973-339-7048) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WAS AT 60,000 MILES WITH A WARRANTY FOR UP TO 100,000 MILES. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 125,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER, BUT HAD NOT YET CALLED THE CONTACT BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.;
