Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2016 Big Country, Bighorn, Cyclone, Edge, Elkridge, North Trail, Prowler, Road Warrior, Sundance XLT, Torque, Wilderness and 2015-2016 Landmark 365 fifth wheel and travel trailers. In the affected vehicles, the bolts that attach the expanding room to the sliding mechanism chain may fail allowing the room to extend unintentionally while the vehicle is in motion.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 252 units affected.

Description:: Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2016 Big Country, Bighorn, Cyclone, Edge, Elkridge, North Trail, Prowler, Road Warrior, Sundance XLT, Torque, Wilderness and 2015-2016 Landmark 365 fifth wheel and travel trailers. In the affected vehicles, the bolts that attach the expanding room to the sliding mechanism chain may fail allowing the room to extend unintentionally while the vehicle is in motion.
Consequeces:: If the room extends while vehicle is in motion, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Heartland will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective bolts, free of charge. The recall began April 16, 2015. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032. Heartland's number for this recall is 99-01-21.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 (NA) HEARTLAND BIG COUNTRY 3650RL EQUIPPED WITH DYNAMIC SAILUN TIRES, SIZE: 235/85/R16. AFTER DRIVING 70 MPH AND STOPPING AT A REST AREA, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE DETERIORATED. THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE AND TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.;
2016 HEARTLAND BIGHORN Complaints
The right rear leaf spring hanger started to crack. If the spring hanger would have broken off the tires could have came together creating a potential hazard. Lippert Components is the manufacture of this suspension system. Lippert marketed this system called Correct Track and installed it across several brands of RV. I did a little research and found multiple failures. I notified Lippert of the failure and they open a case for me. I had a welder complete all repairs and Lippert has agreed to reimburse me for that cost.;

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 3500 TOWING A 2016 HEARTLAND CYCLONE 4100 FIFTH WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT WHEELS OF THE TRAILER WERE CRACKED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SERVICE THE WHEELS. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE DISTRIBUTOR. 2016 HEARTLAND ELKRIDGE Complaints
I HAVE HAD TWO OF THE ORIGINAL TOWMAX TIRE SIZE 225/75R15 TIRES BLOWOUT ON MY NEW FIFTH WHEEL. IN BOTH CASES I WAS GOING UNDER 65 MPH. A THIRD REPLACEMENT TOWMAX TIRE WAS PUT ON MY VEHICLE AND I DROVE HOME. THE NEXT DAY THAT TIRE WAS GOAT BECAUSE OF A CRACK IN THE SIDEWALL. IF I HAD DRIVEN ON IT FOR ANY DISTANCE, IT TOO WOULD HAVE BLOWN. HEARTLAND REPLACED ALL THREE TIRES, BUT I DON'T TRUST ANY OF THEM. UNFORTUNATELY THE BEST I CAN DO IS GET THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND FOR A 50% DISCOUNT WHICH IS WHAT I AM DOING. ALL THREE PROBLEM TIRES WERE LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND HAD ABOUT 2000 MILES ON 2 OF THEM AND LESS THAN 100 MILES ON THE THIRD ONE WITH THE CRACK. THESE TIRES ARE JUNK AND UNSAFE. MY RECOMMENDATION IS YOU AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. THANKFULLY THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE MY FIFTH WHEEL WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO ALL THE DAMAGE TO MY TRAILER WAS COVERED. IN THE CASE OF THE TWO BLOWOUTS I WAS DRIVING ON GOOD STRAIGHT HIGHWAY UNDER 65 MPH IN TEXAS ON COOL (60S) SUNNY DAYS. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO HANDLE THE BLOWOUTS AND GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE FLAT OCCURRED AT THE FACILITY WHERE I KEEP MY TRAILER. THANKFULLY IT WAS ONLY A 70 MILE TRIP AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A BLOWOUT ON THAT TIRE. I LITERALLY LEFT THE TIRE SHOP AND DROVE TO THE STORAGE FACILITY.;
