Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Dynamax

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Dynamax, 2014 Cardinal trailers, and 2015 Cedar Creek, Sierra and Sandpiper trailers. In the affected vehicles, a rivet for the quad entry steps may shear and fail, causing the steps to give when being used.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 689 units affected.

Description:: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Dynamax, 2014 Cardinal trailers, and 2015 Cedar Creek, Sierra and Sandpiper trailers. In the affected vehicles, a rivet for the quad entry steps may shear and fail, causing the steps to give when being used.
Consequeces:: If the rivet shears causing the quad step to fail, the step user may fall, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Corrective action:: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will remove the rivets and the step sections will be bolted together, free of charge. The recall began on June 11, 2015. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FOREST RIVER CARDINAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE RV WAS BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOW INDEPENDENTLY DETACHED FROM THE RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON REACHING THEIR DESTINATION THEY WERE INFORMED THAT THE WINDOW WAS MISSING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.;
2015 FOREST RIVER DYNAMAX Complaints
3 ST235/80R16 TOMAX 10 PLY TIRES BLEW OUT WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES AND 8/32 TREAD DEPTH. WE HAD 3 SEPARATE BLOWOUTS IN THE COURSE OF A 14 DAY PERIOD. ALL INVOLVED BELT SEPARATION;
2015 FOREST RIVER SANDPIPER Complaints
2015 Forest River Sandpiper 365asqb 42’ 5th wheel RV Frame Failure - Our RV has been stationary 90% of the time since it was purchased brand new. Initially the cabinets began opening while in motion and the doors scrubbed as they closed. Within two weeks the center of the roof had a gap where the front cap meets the top of the roof. This was repaired immediately. Over the past four months the center of the RV has progressively gotten worse sagging in the center. While pulling the RV four days ago the RV became uncontrollable while in motion. The RV couldn’t safely be towed back home. The RV is being taken back to our house 4 hrs away on an equipment trailer after finding frame failure. This is dangerous and had my husband not regained control I likely would not be submitting this report today. There are many reports of Lippert’s frames failing on 5th wheel RV’s. They refuse to repair the defective frames leaving consumers with useless dangerous RV’s they paid in excess of $30,000 for.;
2015 FOREST RIVER SIERRA Complaints
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FOREST RIVER SIERRA FIFTH WHEEL. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS SLEEPING IN THE CAMPER, SMOKE WAS DETECTED IN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE NEAR THE WIRING, COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE BATTERY TO THE POWER CONVERTER. IN ADDITION, THE SMOKE ALARM FAILED TO ALERT THE OCCUPANTS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE POWER FROM THE CONVERTER. THE CABINET WAS AFFECTED BY THE INTERNAL FIRE AND THE CONTENTS INSIDE WERE DAMAGED. IN ADDITION, THE HYDRAULIC LINES FOR THE SLIDE OUT JACK AND THE LEVELING SYSTEM WERE DAMAGED FROM THE FIRE. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THE DEALER (FLAGG RV, 66 W BOYLSTON ST, WEST BOYLSTON, MA 01583, (800) 678-9278) AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT OFFERED TO COVER THE DEDUCTIBLE. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.;
