Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013 XLR and Vengeance

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013 XLR and Vengeance, 2010 Sandpiper, 2004 Auto Plus, 2008 Cargo Mate and 2015-2016 Hydra-Lift trailers. In the affected trailers, the studs that are used to attach the wheels to the axle hubs may break.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 44 units affected.

Description:: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013 XLR and Vengeance, 2010 Sandpiper, 2004 Auto Plus, 2008 Cargo Mate and 2015-2016 Hydra-Lift trailers. In the affected trailers, the studs that are used to attach the wheels to the axle hubs may break.
Consequeces:: If the wheel studs break, the wheel could detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace any affected wheel hub, free of charge. The recall began on July 8, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-534-3167. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-05282015-0042.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FOREST RIVER CARGO MATE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE WHEEL STUD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V390000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.;
2010 FOREST RIVER SANDPIPER Complaints
WHILE ON OUR 1ST CAMPING TRIP, WE SMELLED SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING. UPON INVESTIGATION, I FOUND THE 50AMP ELECTRICAL LAND LINE BURNED UP AT THE PLUG. WE CUT OUR TRIP SHORT AND IMMEDIATELY CAME HOME. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE FOREST RIVER AUTHORIZE A REPAIR LOCALLY, BUT THEY WANTED ME TO RETURN TO THE POINT OF PURCHASE (5 HOURS AWAY). WE HAD ANOTHER TRIP PLANNED THE FOLLOWING WEEK SO I LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM. THE 50 AMP SOCKET HOUSING WAS INSTALLED 180 DEGREES REVERSE (EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF A MOLDED KEYWAY IN THE HOUSING). IN ORDER TO ASSEMBLE THE SOCKET, AFTER WIRING IT, IN THAT MANNER, IT HAD TO BE FORCED TOGETHER. AS A RESULT THE LOCKDOWN FOR THE WIRING CAUSED IT TO PULL AWAY FROM THE SET SCREW AND GROUND TO THE NEUTRAL WIRE. THIS CAUSED A SMALL FIRE WHICH BURNED THROUGH THE HOUSING AND LAND LINE CABLE. ALL OF THESE PIECES HAD TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. THIS NEGLIGENCE COULD ONLY HAVE OCCURRED FROM INITIAL ASSEMBLY AT THE FACTORY. *JS;

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FOREST RIVER VENGEANCE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V589000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.;
2013 FOREST RIVER XLR Complaints
The contact owns a 2013 Forest River XLR Toy Hauler. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and towing the toy hauler, the side window in the kitchen detached. The contact stated there was glue residue detected around the seal. The contact used a piece of plexiglass to cover the hole. The contact called the local dealer who ordered the replacement glass, but the RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.;
