Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 C300 Sedan, C300 4Matic, C63 AMG, and C350 vehicles, and 2010 GLK350 and GLK350 4Matic vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the air bag control unit may corrode and cause the control unit to malfunction.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 127,504 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 C300 Sedan, C300 4Matic, C63 AMG, and C350 vehicles, and 2010 GLK350 and GLK350 4Matic vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the air bag control unit may corrode and cause the control unit to malfunction.
Consequeces:: The malfunctioning air bag control unit may cause the air bags to unexpectedly deploy increasing the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. Alternatively, the air bag control unit malfunction may cause the air bags to not deploy in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Corrective action:: MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the air bag control unit and replace it, as necessary, free of charge. Mercedes-Benz issued an interim notification to owners on December 23, 2015. The recall began on March 14, 2016. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300 Complaints
I have messages on my instrument panel stating I have airbag malfunction going on I also have tail lights that are not working and after trying to replace the bulbs it still don't work so obviously it's the light bulb panel so I went and looked at recalls and says that these are all recalls on my car but that they were fixed. so I don't know why I have them all bad again so I need to know what to do;
2009 MERCEDES BENZ C350 Complaints
Vehicle has lost its ability to be driven. Car alarm has gone of a multitude of times at different hours of day and night. Finally we were told that the steering column needs to be replaced. According to tow truck driver, Auto lock person, this is common from the 300 series of Mercedes Benz. Obviously very costly. My car is worthless at this point. I believe that the Mercedes Benz should have a recall on the steering column lock. Obviously, this is not only a defect but, also causing safety issues with it just turning off and not able to restart.;
2009 MERCEDES BENZ C63 AMG Complaints
The tail lamps of my car do not function appropriately - the right tail lamp is completely dead most of the time and the left tail lamp constantly dims and flickers. Mercedes previously issued a recall campaign (no. 2014050001) because "DAG determined that oxidation on the ground pin connector for the rear tail lamps of subject vehicles can result in a dimming of the tail lights or loss of tail lamp functions. . . . [t]he loss of a rear tail lamp reduces the rearward visibility of subject vehicles . . . and may increase the likelihood of a rear end crash." The recall has been performed on my car, but the issues and danger continue to persist. I visually inspected the pin connectors of the tail lamps, confirmed that they still suffer from oxidization (and that they may have slightly burned due to the oxidization), causing the same continuing issues that were at the heart of the prior recall campaign. I reached out to Mercedes' corporate customer service, explained to them in writing that the same issues continue to exist (oxidization of the pin connectors which continue to cause tail lamp malfunction), showed them photos of clear oxidization of the pin connectors, and pleaded with them regarding the continued danger that is caused by the malfunctioning tail lamps. Despite the continuing clear defects and obvious dangerous conditions, Mercedes has refused to provide any assistance to repair the tail lamps. This is a serious design defect, and a quick google search confirms that it continues to be a widespread problem. At minimum, Mercedes should be pressed by the NHTSA to repair my tail lamps, free of cost. However, given that it appears that it continues to be a widespread problem that could potentially affect thousands of cars that continue to be road worthy, the NHTSA should investigate the extent to which Mercedes should be pressed to issue a second wider recall, because the first recall has not resolved the defects and dangerous conditions.;
2010 MERCEDES-BENZ GLK350 Complaints
The vehicle involved is a Mercedes-Benz vehicle that experienced severe corrosion and deterioration of the rear subframe component. The subframe is available for inspection upon request and has been identified as unsafe due to excessive rust and structural corrosion. The corrosion created a major safety risk because the subframe supports critical suspension and stability components. The condition could have caused loss of vehicle control, suspension failure, or an accident while driving, placing both myself and other drivers at risk. The problem has been confirmed by a dealership and/or independent repair facility. I was informed that Mercedes-Benz has acknowledged similar rear subframe corrosion issues and that this condition may fall under a manufacturer warranty or extended coverage program. The vehicle and damaged component have been inspected by service technicians, and repair estimates/documentation are available. The corrosion appears excessive for the age and normal use of the vehicle. Prior to discovering the failure, there were symptoms including unusual noises from the rear suspension area, instability while driving, and visible rust underneath the vehicle. The issue became more noticeable over time before the inspection confirmed severe subframe corrosion.;
