Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470, 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota 4Runner and Lexus GX470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 320,409 units affected.

Description:: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470, 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota 4Runner and Lexus GX470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.
Consequeces:: If the side curtain-shield-air bags deploy unexpectedly, it can increase the risk of occupant injury.
Corrective action:: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bag control module with one that has improved programming, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-271-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is G0C and GLB.

I PURCHASED THIS 2006 LEXUS GX 470 IN OCTOBER 2005, FROM WESTSIDE LEXUS IN HOUSTON TEXAS. THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE STARTED PEELING THREE YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT GOT WORSE AS THE YEARS WENT BY. I CALLED LEXUS AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM, AND DIDN'T GET ANY HELP. I HAVE BEEN CALLING LEXUS EVERY YEAR SINCE I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM, STILL WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM LEXUS. IT IS A SHAME THAT LEXUS IS NOT TRYING TO HELP ME, CONSIDERING I AM A LOYAL CUSTOMER. I FELT LEXUS SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL 2005-2006 LEXUS GX 470 MODELS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON THE ROAD. IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM IS FROM LEXUS. I AM CALLING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO PLEASE ORDER LEXUS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES. IT IS SAD THAT ONE SPENDS HARD-EARNED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE AND TO BE HAVING THESE SORTS OF ISSUES.;

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER (LEN STOLER LEXUS, 11311 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117, (410) 773-9613) SCHEDULED THREE APPOINTMENTS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V065000 (AIR BAGS). HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIRS EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS UNABLE TO INDICATE A REASONABLE TIME FRAME FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD ARRIVE. unknown, vehicle started to leak a fluid, took vehicle to mechanic shop they said frame rotted to the point they would not let me drive it home had to have it towed and now without transportation. the almost identical frames on other toyota vehicles were recalled for exactly the same problem. i dont understand why toyota will stand behind some of their vehicles and take care of some of the toyota owners but not all.;
2006 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER Complaints
BRAKE LINE, PART NUMBER 47326-60340 BURST WITHOUT WARNING WHEN DRIVING. THE PARTICULAR BRAKE LINE PART IS ABOVE FRAME RAIL NEAR FIREWALL. THE PARTICULAR BRAKE LINE PART GOES FROM BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TO BRAKE FLUID FITTING ON THE VEHICE FRAME. IT IS BURIED UNDER HOOD, NOT EASY TO INSPECT. PART OF REASON IT IS DIFFICULT TO VISUALLY INSPECT IS THAT THERE ARE "LOOPS" IN LINE TO ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY BETWEEN VEHICLE BODY AND CHASSIS. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPED WITH ELECTRICALLY BOOSTED BRAKING SYSTEM. UNDER THIS LEAK CONDITION, THE ELECTRIC BOOST FUNCTIONALITY WILL BE LOST, THE BRAKE SYSTEM OPERATES IN MECHANICAL BACK-UP MODE. BRAKE PRESSURE IS GENERATED SOLELY FROM DRIVER FOOT. DUE TO LEAK IN ONE CIRCUIT, THERE IS NO BRAKE PRESSURE IN ONE CIRCUIT OF BRAKE SYSTEM. THE COMBINATION OF NON BOOST-ASSISTED BRAKING AND ONE CIRCUIT DEACTIVATE RESULT IN EXTREMELY DEMOLISHED BRAKING ABILITY FROM DRIVER.;
2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA Complaints
This Toyota has several large rust holes directly on the frame. i hit a pot hole and more structure damage was revealed on the frame from rust. The truck drives rough now. The vehicle only has 150,000 miles. The rust holes are so severe that they're directly under my suspension. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. Their was once a recall for the frame. It doesn't seem that it was satisfied. I'm very worried about this issue. Toyota should have to replace frame or make it safe to drive.;
