Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2017 Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers. The Federal Placard on these vehicles indicates a capacity of 5,000 lbs for each axle, however, each axle actually has a capacity of 4,000 lbs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 35 units affected.

Description:: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers. The Federal Placard on these vehicles indicates a capacity of 5,000 lbs for each axle, however, each axle actually has a capacity of 4,000 lbs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Consequeces:: The incorrect information can cause the vehicle to be overloaded or result in axle failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Federal Placard with a corrected one, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-2640. Forest River's number for this recall is 10C-03082017-0341.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FOREST RIVER FLAGSTAFF SHAMROCK MOTOR HOME. WHILE THE MOTOR HOME WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE 450 POUND WATER TANK FELL WITHOUT WARNING OR AN IMPACT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF BUSINESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. THE CONTACT LEFT VOICE MESSAGES AND TWO EMAILS, BUT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000. *AS CONSUMER STATED IT IS 21 FT LONG THE MODEL NUMBER IS 21 SS. I'M ATTACHING THE PICTURES OF THE TANK. I DON'T HAVE PICTURES OF THE CROSS MEMBERS WITH ME. I MOVE MY TRAILER BACK INTO STORAGE I CAN TAKE PICTURES BEFORE IT IS REPAIRED. I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY REPAIR SHOP OR DEALER FOR FOREST RIVER TO RETURN MY CALLS. THE REPAIRS WILL BE DONE BY 8 GENTLEMAN WHO IS A FABRICATOR AND HE HAS NOT GIVEN ME A PRICE YET. 2017 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD Complaints
The contact owns a 2017 Forest River Rockwood RV equipped with Castle Rock Tires, Tire Line: Radial ST226, Tire Size: 225/75/R15, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the front and rear driver's side tires experienced blowouts. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The tires were replaced with a spare tire and a replacement tire. The tires were original tires. Additionally, the contact stated while driving to the residence, the rear passenger's side tire experienced a blowout. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and noticed that the front passenger's side tire was also damaged. The contact's husband was in the process of purchasing two replacement tires from the tire shop. The front and rear passenger's side tires were not replaced. The tires were original tires. The manufacturer was not contacted. The RV failure mileage was approximately 2,500. The tires failure mileage was approximately 2,500.;
