Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2017 Ace, Hurricane

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2017 Ace, Hurricane, and Windsport motorhomes. The weight rating labels for the tow hitches on these vehicles indicate a 10,000lb weight capacity when the actual hitch capacity is 8,000lbs.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 148 units affected.

Description:: Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2017 Ace, Hurricane, and Windsport motorhomes. The weight rating labels for the tow hitches on these vehicles indicate a 10,000lb weight capacity when the actual hitch capacity is 8,000lbs.
Consequeces:: If the hitch is loaded to the capacity on the label, the hitch may damage the motorhome or the hitch may disconnect from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of the crash.
Corrective action:: TMC will notify owners and provide them corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began on May 22, 2017. Owner's may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020.

2017 THOR MOTOR HURRICANE Complaints
Returned home from a weekend trip with the RV with no issues. Departing my home to return the RV to storage, as I was driving down the street, the RV engine stopped, no brakes, no lights, no steering, all gauges froze in position. There was NO warning lights, or other symptoms prior to the failure. Could not stop the vehicle without using the emergency brake. Vehicle would not restart. Vehicle was towed to a repair facility. Repair facility was able to start the vehicle, but could not duplicate failure.;
2017 THOR MOTOR COACH ACE Complaints
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-53. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTRY DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILED TO LOCK THE RV DOOR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. *DT*JB*PM CONSUMER STATED HE HAD A FAULTY LATCH.*JB;
2017 THOR MOTOR COACH WINDSPORT Complaints
The rear frame that the trailer hitch is attached to has cracked and trailer hitch began to fail.the hitch metal also cracked and the hitch started to fall down,dropping the front of the trailer.if the trailer hitch dropped of completely,the safety devices of the trailer would not have worked. Since the safety chains and emergency brake cable are attached to the hitch,the trailer would be free wheeling down the highway. This would then probably hit another vehicle possibly causing injury or death. The is a Lippert brand hitch. Tag on hitch states 8000 GVW and 500 lb tongue weight. Trailer was less than 4000lbs. And less then 500 tongue weight.;
