Jayco Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2017 Jay Flight Bungalow, Hummingbird, White Hawk, Jay Flight SLX, Jay Feather 7, Jay Feather and Jay Flight fifth wheel recreational trailers. The LED ceiling lights may produce excessive heat.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 13,049 units affected.

Description:: Jayco Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2017 Jay Flight Bungalow, Hummingbird, White Hawk, Jay Flight SLX, Jay Feather 7, Jay Feather and Jay Flight fifth wheel recreational trailers. The LED ceiling lights may produce excessive heat.
Consequeces:: The excessive heat from the LED ceiling lights may increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected LED ceiling lights with a different light, free of charge. The recall began on May 24, 2017. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for the recall is 9901349.

2017 JAYCO TRAVEL TRAILER JAY FEATHER Complaints
The rear bunk end door on this 2017 Jayco Jay Feather X17Z hybrid travel trailer does not fully latch or lock while traveling at highway speeds due to a known widespread manufacturing defect. Jayco factory installed canvas retainer strips with no pre-drilled holes and no washers causing the plastic retainer strip to crack and fail. This caused the entire rear bunk end frame to shift out of alignment making it impossible for the door latch to fully engage while towing at highway speeds. This is a documented defect affecting hundreds of identical units. Jayco was already replacing these under warranty proving they knew about the defect. Jayco subsequently redesigned the attachment system eliminating screws through plastic entirely — part numbers 0858182 and 0858183 — proving the original design was inadequate and dangerous. The bunk door not fully latching at highway speed poses a direct safety hazard to other drivers on the road.;
2017 JAYCO TRAVEL TRAILER JAY FLIGHT SLX Complaints
The contact owns a 2017 Jayco Jay Flight SLX. The contact stated while the RV was stationary, the interior light started to flicker, and the bulbs were extremely hot. The contact also stated that the battery was draining and that the refrigerator was not functioning properly. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the mechanic associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V696000 (Electrical System) and 17V290000 (Interior Lighting). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recalls. The RV was not repaired but was pending repairs.;

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 (NA) JAYCO JAY FLIGHT BUNGALOW RV. WHILE THE TRAILER WAS BEING SERVICED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LED CEILING LIGHTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER EXHIBITED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V290000 (INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER WAS MANUFACTURED WITH THE DEFECTIVE LED LIGHT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO CAMPING WORLD OF KINGSTON (124 NY-28, KINGSTON, NY 12401, (888) 885-1016) TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V290000 (INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO FAILURE MILEAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THE TRAILER.;
