Gulf States Toyota, Inc. is recalling certain 2017 4Runner

Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (Gulf States) is recalling certain 2017 4Runner , 86, Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla iM, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius C, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Sienna and Yaris vehicles. The spare tire air pressure was not adjusted to the proper pressure as stated on the Tire Pressure Label.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 409 units affected.

Description:: Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (Gulf States) is recalling certain 2017 4Runner , 86, Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla iM, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius C, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Sienna and Yaris vehicles. The spare tire air pressure was not adjusted to the proper pressure as stated on the Tire Pressure Label.
Consequeces:: A spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Gulf States will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the spare tires, adjusting their pressure as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 15, 2017. Owners may contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074. Toyota's number for this recall is 17R2.

The car was running while in park. Our son got and and shifted the car into reverse from the passenger seat. The gear shift will engage without applying the brake or even without running and in park. The car crashed into one of our other vehicles parked behind the 4 runner. There is a malfunction with the automatic shift locking mechanism otherwise known as the safety interlock.;

The torsion springs for the rear trunk are very weak. They have been that way since car was new. I have had multiple occasions where I opened the trunk and had it come down and hit me on the head. This has also happened to my wife.;
2017 TOYOTA CAMRY Complaints
Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Camry, which was purchased via Facebook Marketplace. Shortly after purchase, the Check Engine warning light illuminated, leading the contact to replace the catalytic converter. Upon using a diagnostic code reader, the contact discovered that the estimated value of the vehicle was significantly less than the actual cost that was paid for the vehicle. The contact purchased the Carfax report which revealed that the actual mileage on the vehicle was 297,000; not the 107,000 shown on the instrument panel. The contact subsequently discovered that a fake Carfax report was provided at the time of the purchase, which showed that the vehicle was also involved in several crashes and had several prior owners. The contact reported the incident to the DeKalb County Police Department. The purchase was a private sale, and the contact was unable to reach the seller after several attempts.;

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE TO NORMAL SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.;
