Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2018 Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers. The Federal Placards on these vehicles may state an incorrect weight of the trailer. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 30 units affected.

Description:: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers. The Federal Placards on these vehicles may state an incorrect weight of the trailer. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Consequeces:: An incorrect weight on the label may affect how the operator loads the vehicle, impacting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard with correct weight and cargo carrying capacity, free of charge. The recall began August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-534-4058. Forest River's number for this recall is 63-07312017-0485.

TRAVELING ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE, 9:00 A.M., PORT SAINT LUCIE AREA. A LOUD BANG AND THE BLOWN TIRE. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE. WE MADE IT SAFELY TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE WHERE WE AWAITED FHP FOR ASSISTANCE. AFTER SPARE TIRE WAS PUT ON WE TOOK THE NEXT EXIT AND BOUGHT A NEW SPARE BEFORE CONTINUING OUR TRIP TO KEY WEST. AFTER A TWO WEEK STAY WE STARTED OUR RETURN HOME. ONCE AGAIN ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE IN MIAMI, 11:00 A.M., 02/25 WE BLEW ANOTHER TIRE, PASSENGER SIDE, REAR TIRE. RESULT OF THAT FAILED TIRE CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO RV. RETURNED HOME AND HAD FOUR NEW TIRES INSTALLED. CALLAGY TIRE (PALM BAY FL) TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE TWO TIRES ON DRIVERS SIDE WERE DETERIORATED AND FAILURE WAS IMMINENT. PLEASE NOTE: RV IS STORED UNDER A TENT ON BOARDS. TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED BEFORE OUR TRIP AND ONE AGAIN WHEN WE PICKED UP THE NEW SPARE AT BAYSHORE TIRE SERVICE. BOTH BLOWOUTS WERE ON FL TURNPIKE, 65 MPH, DRY ROADS. *DT*DT Consumer stated trailer did not even have 2000 miles and had 2 blow outs within 15 miles of each other.;
2018 FOREST RIVER WILDWOOD Complaints
I was towing our 2018 Forest River Wildwood 370BL down I 10 coming into Tucson AZ on our way back to Alabama from California when we were approx 20 miles away from our overnight stop in Tucson. I notice that the camper was moving up and down with the bumps and dips and even made contact with the top of my bed on the passenger side causing damage. After attempts to find a mobile RV repair facility that would look at it failed, I called the Lippert, the company listed on the fifth wheel pin box. After removing the exterior panels at their direction It was obvious that there was major damage to the welds themselves on the frame. Speaking to Lippert reps, they agreed over the phone that this was a failure in the frame. The flex caused by these breaks also caused major structural damage to the exterior walls, slides, floor, interior walls, seals, gutters, and roof. As of now my AC condensation is now dripping down through the walls because of a separation of the exterior wall near the roof line and gutter. This could have been a life altering event to my family and those around us on I 10 if this would have completely failed.;
