Keystone RV Company is recalling certain 2018 Carbon

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2018 Carbon, Fuzion, and Raptor triple axle toy haulers. These vehicles may have an incorrectly welded suspension equalizer that can result in the suspension's failure while traveling.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 83 units affected.

Description:: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2018 Carbon, Fuzion, and Raptor triple axle toy haulers. These vehicles may have an incorrectly welded suspension equalizer that can result in the suspension's failure while traveling.
Consequeces:: If the suspension fails, the trailer's handling would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Keystone has notified owners, and dealers will replace the equalizer with a different one, free of charge. The recall began on October 20, 2017. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 17-305.

THIS INVOLVES NEW CHINESE JUNK TIRES BEING PUT ON TOY HAULERS. KEYSTONE ONE OF THE LARGEST MANUFACTURER OF RV'S PUTS THE CHEAPEST TIRES ON EVEN AFTER BEING TOLD BY MANY OWNERS THAT TIRES ARE EXPLODING GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. NOT JUST RUNLETS WHERE IT FALLS APART BUT FULLY INFLATED WHERE IT GOES OFF LIKE A BOMB MY NEW UNIT HAS ST235 80 16 12PLY TRAILER KING TIRES. THESE ARE THE PRIMARY OFFENDERS I HAVE LESS THAT 500 MILES SINCE DELIVERY AND AT LEAST 1 TIRE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF A SIDE WALL FAILURE I TALKED TO MY DEALER THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH KEYSTONE AND KEY STONE DENIED THE CLAIM SAYING THAT I HAVE TO CONTACT THE DISTRIBUTOR TIERCE WHICH IS I BELIEVE THE SAME COMPANY FROM A FEW YEARS AGO THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH CHEAP CHINESE TIRES THAT CAUSED DEATHS. THIS NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO.MY INFORMATION COMES FROM ONE OF MANY RV WEB SITES WHERE ALMOST DAILY PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THEIR CHEAP TIRES EXPLODING CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE. THE TIRE COMPANY COMES UP WITH THE SAME EXCUSE YOU RAN IT FLAT. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE WHEN A RUN FLAT COMES APART AND TEARS OFF A FENDER FLARE AND A TIRE THE EXPLODES AT FULL PRESSURE AND BLOWS THE ENTIRE SKIRTING OFF THE TRAILER. 2018 KEYSTONE FUZION Complaints
The contact owns a 2018 Keystone Montana equipped with Sailun Tires, Tire Line: S637, Tire Size: ST235/80/R16, Dot Number: 1YJ276PLA. The contact stated that the RV was taken in for an alignment after purchasing new tires. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low tire pressure message displayed. The contact pulled over to inspect the tires and noticed that the tread was low on the passenger’s side rear tire. The contact replaced the tire with the spare and continued to driving to his destination. The tire was replaced with a new tire however, after replacing the tire, the contact was driving when the low tire pressure message on the driver’s side rear tire was displayed. The contact inspected the tire and became aware that the tread was extremely worn and was separated from the tire. The spare tire was placed on the trailer and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the tire to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,500.;
2018 KEYSTONE RAPTOR Complaints
The axle hanger weld on the passengers side of the 5th-wheel broke and the axle shifted forward in which the tires rubbed together while doing driving on the highway. Luckily we stopped to get gas when this was noticed. If we had not stopped for gas the situation could have been very bad up to and including death. We have pictures and still have the part if inspection is requested. We were in the middle of nowhere TX and stayed overnight at an RV park near next door to the gas station. The next day we spent 2 hours contacting mobile RV companies and welders to come look at and fix the damage. The damage was looked at by TW welding and construction as they were the only company available to come look at and fix this so we could get back on the road so we could get home to CO. There was no warning lamps or messages as this is a 5th-wheel. Looking this up it appears that there have been several recalls on this particular part in the past and when calling Keystone, Dexter Axle and Lippert they stated they knew of this part failing before but our unit was not included in the recall. This issue has been fixed on newer models (my parents have a 2021) and the hangers are reinforced. No one wants to own this yet it is a known problem.;
