Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Newmar Ventana, 2015-2016 Newmar London Aire, and 2013-2017 Newmar Dutch Star motorhomes. When switching from using the low beam headlights to the high beam headlights, the low beam headlights go out when the intention was to have both beams illuminate.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 2,038 units affected.

Description:: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Newmar Ventana, 2015-2016 Newmar London Aire, and 2013-2017 Newmar Dutch Star motorhomes. When switching from using the low beam headlights to the high beam headlights, the low beam headlights go out when the intention was to have both beams illuminate.
Consequeces:: Without the low beams also illuminated when the high beams are on, the driver may have reduced visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will correct the vehicles so that the low beam stays illuminated when the high beam is switched on, free of charge. The recall began on May 18, 2018. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.

WHEN USING ENGINE JAKE BRAKE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED. GOING DOWN A LONG GRADE THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME SEE MY BRAKE LIGHTS ON PERHAPS FOR SEVERAL MILES. IF I NEED TO USE MY CHASSIS BRAKES TO SLOW FOR SOMETHING IN FRONT OF ME THERE IS NO SIGNAL GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES. TWICE I HAVE EXPERIENCED A NEAR REAR END COLLISION FROM A SEMI BEHIND ME WHO DID NOT RECEIVE A SIGNAL THAT I WAS PHYSICALLY SLOWING DOWN FROM THE ACCUSTOMED TRAVEL SPEED. TRAVELING DOWN A MOUNTAIN GRADE AT 50 PLUS MILES PER HOUR THERE IS VERY LITTLE REACTION TIME FOR A FOLLOWING VEHICLE BEFORE THE SPACE INTERVAL IS CLOSED UP.THIS IS A DANGEROUS OPTION TO HAVE ON A VEHICLE. ON MY PREVIOUS MOTOR HOMES I WAS ABLE TO HAVE IT DISCONNECTED BUT UNABLE TO ON MY NEW COACH. ALSO WHAT IS THE EFFECT ON THE ELECTRIC BRAKES ON A TRAILER THAT IS BEING TOWED? THEY ARE ACTIVATED BY THE BRAKE LIGHT SIGNAL FROM THE TOWING VEHICLE. ARE THEY OVER HEATING BECOMING OF NO VALUE IF NEEDED IN AN EMERGENCY? IF THIS IS SUCH A GREAT THING WHY IS IT NOT ON ALL THE TRUCKS ??;
2017 NEWMAR DUTCH STAR Complaints
My DEF sensor failed which required towing on Interstate 80 in a highly congested area. This same failure has happened to many other motorhomes and trucks. It creates a very unsafe situation which needs to be corrected. Please require the manufacturer to correct the flaw and recall all in use. Thank you.;
2017 NEWMAR VENTANA Complaints
THIS IS A CLASS A MOTORHOME ON A FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS. WHEN RUNNING AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE ENTIRE DASH LIGHTS FLICKER AND GO OUT COMPLETELY LEAVING A DARK DASH WITH NO INSTRUMENTATION INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER. AFTER TALKING WITH NEWMAR CORP. THEY SAY IT IS A KNOWN SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND IS FREIGHTLINER'S RESPONSIBILITY. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AND IT IS GOING ON A YEAR. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT THE COACH IS COMPLETELY DARK AND YOU CANNOT TELL SPEED ON ANYTHING ELSE. THIS CAUSES A MAJOR PROBLEM AT NIGHT.;
