Honda is recalling certain 2003-2012 Honda Accord and Pilot

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2003-2012 Honda Accord and Pilot, 2010 Accord Crosstour, 2001-2011 Civic, 2002-2011 CR-V, 2003-2004, 2006-2008 and 2011 Element, 2007 and 2009-2013 Fit, 2010-2012 Insight, 2002-2004 Odyssey, and 2012 Ridgeline vehicles. The front passenger air bag may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 1,335 units affected.

Description:: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2003-2012 Honda Accord and Pilot, 2010 Accord Crosstour, 2001-2011 Civic, 2002-2011 CR-V, 2003-2004, 2006-2008 and 2011 Element, 2007 and 2009-2013 Fit, 2010-2012 Insight, 2002-2004 Odyssey, and 2012 Ridgeline vehicles. The front passenger air bag may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.
Consequeces:: An incorrectly installed air bag may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Corrective action:: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began June 22, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are K1P, and M1O.

2004 HONDA ODYSSEY Complaints
On XXX while traveling at approximately 50 mph on a smooth highway, both front airbags and the seatbelt pretensioners spontaneously deployed and exploded without warning. There was absolutely no collision, crash, road debris, or pothole impact. There were no vehichles in front or behind me. The vehicle continued smoothly for 100 yards post-blast. The vehicle's exterior and undercarriage remain completely undamaged. COMPONENTS FAILED: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) electronic control unit failed catastrophically. The explosive blast shattered the windshield, locked the seatbelt assemblies, and inflicted immediate blast-induced acoustic trauma/severe tinnitus. The vehicle is completely disabled but safely secured on private property and is available for immediate physical inspection. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER CONFIRMATION: The manufacturer (American Honda Corporate) has officially cross-referenced this vehicle and confirmed that the safety remedy for the known SRS control unit defect (NHTSA Recall Campaign 13V-412) was previously performed on XXX, at an authorized dealer (Billy Wood Honda in [XXX]). This incident represents a catastrophic failure of a certified manufacturer safety remedy. American Honda Corporate has opened a high-priority Level 1 Product Liability Investigation under Corporate Case Number XXX. RISK AND WARNING SYMPTOMS: Driver safety was put at extreme risk due to an unprovoked explosive detonation at highway speeds, causing temporary blindness from white smoke and sudden hearing deprivation. 2010 HONDA ACCORD CROSSTOUR Complaints
I have been experiencing serious problems with my 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour. In 2013 there was a lawsuit against Honda due to an oil consumption and it stated ALL 2010 Honda Accord Crosstours and since a recall was never issued Honda denied fixing my car. After a lawsuit Honda should have been court appointed to fix everyone of the million cars with the defective engines!!!! The consumer shouldnt have to replace anything. My car completely shutdown) weeks ago while I was driving major safety issue don’t you think geez will it take people to die before they replace all these defective engines??? Oil is leaking into the combustion chamber and thats a defective problem per manufacturer!!!!!! You need to do an investigation on this because it’s the V-6 J35Z2 that they put in majority of there cars and it’s defective that should be against the law!!!!!!!!! I have had so many repairs on this Honda that shouldn’t have had to be done on a Honda. My last Honda had the engine before this defective one and it was great never had a problem. It’s nit the consumers fault so Honda should have to replace all those engines and it should be the lemon law if being sold after a lawsuit on them and they shouldn’t be abje to sell a defective engine knowingly!!!!! Someone need to step up for the consumer in this matter because warranty can’t even apply when it was defective before anyobe purchased the vehicle.!!!!!!!!! DO SOMETHING;
2011 HONDA CIVIC Complaints
The contact owns a 2011 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, the engine was powered off with the key in the ignition, and the front driver-side air bag and front driver-side air bag curtain had independently deployed. No warning lights illuminated, and there was no impact. In addition, the contact stated that her mother was sitting in the passenger seat, and the failure occurred while rolling up the front passenger-side window. The contact's mother sustained minor injuries to her left ear; however, did not seek medical attention. The local dealer was contacted; however, the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.;
2011 HONDA CR-V Complaints
There are known issues with Honda crv’s frames rusting in many states. There was a recall which we had inspection and straps added to strengthen frame. Now, frame has failed and even after filing a case with Honda care in April 2026, they continue to close the case, reopen it when we call back, call us with ring less voice mails so we are never able to talk to any case manager, and leave recorded voicemail for us to call back - and there is NO “Alexis” case manager. Dealership Dahl Honda in Rhinelander has been no help and upon initial inspection in April, would not say if safe to drive or not - only would say they forwarded pics and info to Honda Care.;
2011 HONDA ELEMENT Complaints
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ELEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, SHE HAD NOTICED THAT AN EXTENSION LADDER AND DEBRIS HAD LANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IN ORDER TO AVOID THE OBJECTS, THE CONTACT AND THE DRIVER BEHIND HER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE THE SAME TURN AT THE SAME TIME INTO THE RIGHT LANE WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY UPON COLLISION. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT ALSO FAILED TO RELEASE UPON DEPRESSION OF THE DRIVER SEAT BELT BUTTON. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT WAS TRAPPED IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE VEHICLE BY THE COUNTY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. BOTH DRIVERS WERE TREATED AT THE SCENE AND HAD THEIR VITALS TAKEN, NEITHER DRIVER NEEDED FURTHER MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT SCENE. DUE TO THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT REMAINED UNDER INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.;
