General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 1,015,918 units affected.

Description:: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.
Consequeces:: If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

2015 CADILLAC ESCALADE Complaints
The contact owns a 2015 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that while driving through a conveyor car wash with child occupants in the rear seats, the vehicle was placed in neutral (N). The vehicle was then shifted into drive (D) as instructed but accelerated independently. The contact added that the vehicle barely made a left turn exiting the car wash bay, nearly colliding with a wall and a car wash door. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to slow down. The contact shifted the vehicle into park (P), but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact added that after shifting the vehicle into neutral (N), a roaring noise emanated from the engine compartment as if the vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact depressed the power button, but the vehicle failed to shut off. The vehicle continued across the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The contact made a sharp right turn, nearly missing the car wash stalls, and then shifted the gear selector between park (P) and neutral (N) quickly multiple times. The vehicle accelerated in a circle, slowed down, came to an abrupt stop, and rocked violently before turning off. The contact then noticed a clicking noise behind the dashboard, and unknown warning lights, numbers, and messages appeared. The son-in-law of the contact arrived and restarted the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a sore neck, and the child occupants became dizzy, but medical attention was not provided. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was left at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.;
2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints
January of last year, I was driving, coming off the highway, my engine came on and the system send to shutdown immediatly. I was close enough to my machanic, upon inspection, the AFM System failed at only 76,622 miles. This is part of the building issues with this value lifter problem I wanted to document it with the NHTSA as you are actively opening case for this ongoing issue with GM. i am hoping that a class action law suit will hopfully gain traction. this was a know issue, i was outside of standard warrenty, I was forced to replace the engine out of my own pocket to avoid having a truck worth almost nothing. I will bring this up with GM corporate also, reciept uploaded. Millions of 2014-present trucks and SUVs, while federal investigations specifically target nearly 878,000 to 1 million newer vehicles (2019–2026). GM should be helad accountable;
2015 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN Complaints
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving and taking a curve, the vehicle failed to turn as needed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn. The contact stated that the message “Steering Assist Reduced – Drive with Care” was displayed. The dealer was contacted, and a diagnostic test was pending. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.;
2015 CHEVROLET TAHOE Complaints
I purchased this car previously owned. As I’ve had to drive it everyday. I notice the tires/wheels when turning left or right, when parking …the wheels tend to lock then I must put in muscle to turn and return to a straight position. This has gotten worse to the point I almost ended up on a curb last week. Someone needs to check this vehicle because something is wrong. I keep impuestos with the maintenance but this locking of tires/wheels and then the constant shudder afterwards is dangerous. I’m appalled there is no recall or at the very least a free diagnostic or inspection at a dealer. I already told my family to sue if I die or get hurt in this Tahoe. Totally unacceptable;
2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 Complaints
My 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 recently started having all the symptoms under GM internal recall number 18289. I lose my power steering briefly and the electronics turn off momentarily. I lose dash, AC, radio and GPS. It comes back on within a second or two and only does this during low speed turning. I ran my VIN but it does not show under this recall despite having the correct Make/Model/Year.
