Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks equipped with an engine block heater. Water and contaminants may get into the block heater cable's splice connector causing corrosion and damage.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 410,289 units affected.

Description:: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks equipped with an engine block heater. Water and contaminants may get into the block heater cable's splice connector causing corrosion and damage.
Consequeces:: When the heater is plugged in, prolonged corrosion could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring which can increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will disable the block heater cable, free of charge. Once parts are available, Dealers will replace the engine block heater cable, free of charge. The recall began June 3, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S45.

2019 FORD F-150 Complaints
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that the failure ceased after the engine had been running for several minutes. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.;
2019 FORD F-450 Complaints
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F450. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the diesel particle filter (DPF) had failed. The sensor was replaced. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The sensor had been replaced four times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.;
2019 FORD F-550 Complaints
The complaint was filed on behalf of the contact's employer. The contact's employer owns a 2019 Ford F-550. The contact stated that while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was swerving from side to side. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The failure was a persistent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,563.;
