Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, 2004-2010 Cayenne, 2006 Cayenne Turbo S, 2010-2016 Panamera S, Panamera 4 S, Panamera Turbo, 2011-2016 Panamera, Panamera 4, 2012-2013 Panamera Turbo S, 2013-2016 Panamera 4 GTS, 2014-2016 Panamera 4 S Executive, Panamera Turbo Executive, Panamera Turbo S G1 II, Panamera Turbo S Executive, 2013 Panamera 4 Platinum Edition, Panamera Platinum Edition, 2016 Panamera 4 Edition, Panamera Edition, Panamera Turbo S Executive Luxury Sports vehicles. The bushing that attaches the gear selector lever to the gearbox may degrade over time, causing the bushing to detach. This condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 99,665 units affected.

This condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
Consequeces:: If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. Owners are instructed to use the parking brake until their vehicle is repaired. The recall began August 9, 2019. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AKB1.

2006 PORSCHE CAYENNE S Complaints
The contact owns a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S. The contact stated that the front of the vehicle was facing uphill, the contact decided not to reverse down the hill and was attempting to turn the vehicle around to drive down the hill. The contact put the vehicle in park and was hanging over the driver’s front door attempting to see where the edge of the hill was to back up the hill and drive down the hill. However, the gear went into neutral, and the vehicle unexpectedly moved, rolling down the hill. The contact jumped into the moving vehicle and depressed the brake pedal as the back of the vehicle hit the ground smashing the muffler into the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed of the recall. The contact sustained injuries to the chest, left arm and shoulder, and the head. The contact had bruises on both legs and arms, and a large laceration on right shin which required medical attention. In addition, the contact was traumatized. The vehicle was repaired by replacing the plastic bushing on the selector lever cable. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V446000 (Power Train) as a possible solution however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact the vehicle would be repaired and the vehicle and paying for the damages. The contact was provided a claim number however, the contact was unsuccessful in reaching a representative. The approximate failure mileage was 158,322.;
2006 PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO Complaints
METALLIC CONTACT POINTS FOR THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB HOLDER INTEGRAL IN THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES CORRODE OR ERODE RENDERING THE TURN SIGNAL INOPERABLE. CORRECTION REQUIRES COSTLY REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. POINT OF FAILURE IS INACCESSIBLE FOR PHOTOGRAPH. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL CONTACTORS HAVE FAILED ON SUBJECT VEHICLE WITH IN THE PAST YEAR. THE PARTS IN QUESTION ARE NOT SUBJECT TO OPERATIONAL MOVEMENT OR WEAR, AND A MANDATED SAFETY ITEM WHOSE FAILURE MAY RESULT IN A TRAFFIC CITATION BY POLICE.;
2010 PORSCHE CAYENNE Complaints
TRANSFER CASE ISSUE. 2010 PORSCHE CAYENNE TRANSFER CASE ISSUE. I HAVE 260K MILES ON MY PORSCHE. I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE ABOUT 3 WEEKS. I TOOK TO A GERMAN CAR SPECIALIST AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT, THE TRANSFER CASE WAS GOING OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST IS $5400.00. I AM A BIG FAN OF ALL THINGS PORSCHE, BUT THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED ME TO TAKE A SECOND LOOK INTO BUYING ANOTHER ONE. THIS SHOULD BE AN ISSUE FOR RECALL BY PORSCHE. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?? I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON TO THE HIGHWAY VIA AN ON RAMP, THE KNOCKING FROM THE TRANSFER CASE SLOWED THE VEHICLE WITH TRAFFIC COMING UP FROM BEHIND. FORTUNATELY, IT PICKED UP SPEED.;
2016 PORSCHE PANAMERA Complaints
The contact owned a 2016 Porsche Panamera. The contact stated that while driving at 2 MPH and while the contact attempted to make a right turn when the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes failed to engage inadvertently. The steering column also became inoperable. The vehicle would not stop and the steering column would not turn, which resulted in an accident. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and a police report was filed; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the Allstate Insurance Adjuster. The contact stated that he had previously experienced brake failure while driving the vehicle and had taken the vehicle to the dealer for servicing, but the dealer could not diagnose the failure at either visit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.;
