BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020 Z4 M40i, Z4 sDrive30i, 330i and 330i xDrive vehicles as well as 2020 Toyota Supra vehicles. The headlight control units may fail causing a loss of one or both of the headlights.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 245 units affected.

Description:: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020 Z4 M40i, Z4 sDrive30i, 330i and 330i xDrive vehicles as well as 2020 Toyota Supra vehicles. The headlight control units may fail causing a loss of one or both of the headlights.
Consequeces:: Headlight failure can reduce the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headlight control units, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 17, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371.

2020 BMW 330I Complaints
The left hydraulic engine motor mount (P/N 22117581621) completely collapsed and failed at 6 years and only 24,811 miles. The right mount was also replaced at the same time (P/N 22117581622). The failure allows unsafe, excessive engine movement and shifting under rotational torque loads. This shifting creates an immediate safety hazard, risking the sudden compromise of surrounding mechanical systems, cooling lines, and electrical harnesses while the vehicle is in motion. BMW North America acknowledged the premature nature of the failure by approving a goodwill repair for the labor costs but forced me to pay out-of-pocket for the defective parts. The engine mount issue was detected when the vehicle went in for normal services and the known recall for the engine starter which had the potential to cause bodily harm as well as property harm due to fire risk, even when the engine was off.;
2020 BMW Z4 Complaints
The engine starter failed on my 2020 BMW Z4 M40i. The vehicle experienced starting failures and the repair shop diagnosed a faulty/shorted engine starter assembly. The symptoms and component failure match the exact defect description of active safety recalls NHTSA 24V-576 and 25V-636 (Starter Motor Fire Risk due to electrical short circuit/overheating). However, when checking my specific 17-digit VIN, the manufacturer has excluded my vehicle from the recall population. Because this is an identical component failure that poses a severe vehicle fire and safety hazard, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate a recall expansion to include my vehicle's production batch. I have retained the diagnostic reports and repair invoices as evidence.;
2020 TOYOTA SUPRA Complaints
There is currently an ongoing recall for the GR Supra over the starter. I currently drive a 2020 and have had periodic starter malfunctions. This is when I go to start the car it states starter system malfunction then lets me still turn it on after clearing the error message. I have brought this up to my dealership and due to the intermittent nature of the issue they said they could not diagnose and that continuity was good so they would not replace it and if they did it would not be covered. I fear that my car is a fire risk based on the recall notices for all the other model years and that when it happens I will be left holding the bag. The date listed below (7/17/2026) is just the last time it happened. I have had it happen close to 20 times or more it feels like.;
