Honda is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles. The wire harness for the third row seat accessory power outlet may get pinched between the unibody and rear trim panel, possibly damaging the wires and causing an electrical short.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 241,339 units affected.

Description:: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles. The wire harness for the third row seat accessory power outlet may get pinched between the unibody and rear trim panel, possibly damaging the wires and causing an electrical short.
Consequeces:: An intermittent electrical short could overheat the wire harness, increasing the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the third row seat accessory power outlet wire harness for damage, replacing it as necessary. If no damage is found, the dealer will apply protective tape and re-route the harness. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is T6U.

?I am writing to issue a formal complaint regarding gross negligence, logistics failures, and deceptive service practices surrounding mandatory recall work on my 2020 Honda Odyssey. ?1. Failure to Complete Recall Software Work After Overnight Retention On Tuesday, September 1, your service department texted stating: "the software update did not finish. We do need it overnight." We agreed to leave the vehicle. However, upon pickup, the infotainment display confirmed that the update was never completed and remains stuck at Step 5/6 (System Update 24084.7 / Front Control Box B.1.4.6). Retaining a customer's vehicle overnight under the guise of completing software work and returning it unfinished is a direct misrepresentation of labor performed. ?2. Extreme Logistics Failure and Disregard for Customer Time At 12:55 PM on Wednesday, September 2, your department texted: "Ready to go now!" My wife arrived promptly, yet your staff forced her to wait until 2:40 PM—nearly two hours later—before physically releasing the car. This gross delay caused her to miss our children’s school pickup, forcing me to leave my workplace unexpectedly to handle child transportation due to your operational incompetence. ?3. Cascading Network Faults and Critical Safety Systems Disabled Prior to service, the dashboard displayed minor Sensing suite warnings, for which your department quoted an exorbitant $250 diagnostic fee. Upon picking up the vehicle, the dashboard warning count escalated from 5 to approximately 9 active system failures. Due to the interrupted ECU software installation corrupting the CAN-BUS network, the following primary vehicle controls are now completely inoperable: ?Supplemental Restraint System (SRS / Airbag) (Newly triggered post-service) ?Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) System ?Automatic Brake Hold System ?Electric Parking Brake (EPB) System ?Electric Power Steering (EPS) ?Hill Start Assist ?Honda Sensing Suite (Lane Departure, Collision Mitigation, Road Departure) ?Releas;
