Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017 Touareg GP, Tiguan, Golf A6, E-Golf GP, CCF, 2016-2017 Passat GP, 2018-2019 Golf R GP, and 2018 Atlas vehicles. These internal-use vehicles were sold without confirmation that they were built to all applicable regulatory requirements and may have been modified prior to sale. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of various Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 46 units affected.

Description:: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017 Touareg GP, Tiguan, Golf A6, E-Golf GP, CCF, 2016-2017 Passat GP, 2018-2019 Golf R GP, and 2018 Atlas vehicles. Consequeces:: Vehicles that do not meet all regulatory requirements may have an increased risk of injury, crash, or fire.
Corrective action:: Volkswagen will repurchase the vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2021. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 01F1.

2017 VOLKSWAGEN CC Complaints
The DQ250 6-speed DSG (dual clutch) automatic transmission in my 2017 Volkswagen CC Executive has catastrophically failed at 37,768 miles. COMPONENT FAILURE: The mechatronic unit, the electro-hydraulic controller that manages all gear selection and clutch engagement inside the DSG transmission has failed. The transmission is available for inspection upon request. WHAT HAPPENED: Symptoms began with intermittent failure to engage gear after stopping at intersections and stop signs. The transmission would slip out of gear or refuse to engage, leaving the vehicle momentarily unable to accelerate from a dead stop in traffic, a dangerous condition with cross-traffic approaching. The condition progressed to include an audible whining and slipping noise during downshifts, consistent with inadequate hydraulic clamping pressure on the clutch pack. The transmission then lost the ability to engage reverse gear entirely. The vehicle was driven home in forward gears only and is now inoperable and parked. SAFETY RISK: On multiple occasions, the vehicle was unable to accelerate from a complete stop at intersections with active cross-traffic. Loss of reverse gear eliminates the ability to maneuver out of dangerous situations in parking lots, driveways, and streets. This vehicle is unsafe to operate. WARNING SIGNS: No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared prior to or during the failure. The first symptom was intermittent hesitation and slipping when attempting to engage from a stop. The condition worsened rapidly over a short period until reverse was lost completely. DEALER/MANUFACTURER CONTACT: The manufacturer was contacted. A callback was promised within two business days and was never received. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer because the servicing dealer, a Volkswagen-authorized dealership, has permanently closed. 2017 VOLKSWAGEN E-GOLF Complaints
Car computer system spontaneously crashes every few minutes. Proximity sensors, rear camera, and drive mode selector (normal, eco, eco+) stop working creating a potential driving hazard. After several crashes, the system requires a hard reboot. If a phone is connected (via bluetooth or USB cable), the handsfree car-link also stops working.;
2017 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF SPORTWAGEN Complaints
2017 Golf has been nothing but a nightmare. [1] 2018-2021, it was Infotainment system that I had to repair 3 times; once under warranty, twice out of pocket. Stupid navigation system malfunctions every time they upgrade the map or something and caused another visit to the dealer for replacing the entire radio and that little disk in the glove box. How many times would anyone do this during ownership, every year? I gave up fixing that dumbest navigation infotainment whatever, after paying thousands of $$ twice. Apparently, nobody at VW could care less if their driver could have an accident while driving with phone in hand to navigate while the navigation screen is on forever uploading loop. [2] 2026, EPC started showing up on dashboard. Car was noticeably sluggish and became difficult to accelerate. Dumbass dealership misdiagnosed and repaired engine harness instead of turbocharger, costing me thousands of $$ for two separate repairs. I missed the class action deadline due to seldom driving. EPC was not acting up yet during the suit. Whoever reads this, go buy yourself a Toyota.;
2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT Complaints
I am reporting a recurring safety-related defect involving the factory-installed infotainment touchscreen in my 2017 Volkswagen Passat SE Technology. The touchscreen intermittently malfunctions in several ways. At times, the entire infotainment system freezes and becomes completely unresponsive, preventing access to any controls. The screen also has developed "dead spots" where touch inputs do not register. Additionally, it sometimes registers "phantom touches," responding to inputs when the screen is not being touched. I believe this presents a safety concern because the infotainment system is an integrated component of the vehicle and is intended to be operated by the driver. When the system freezes, fails to respond, or registers unintended inputs, the driver may have to divert their attention from the roadway to determine what is happening, attempt to operate the system, or restart it. Dead spots can also prevent the driver from accessing desired functions. Pennsylvania recognizes the safety risks associated with distracted driving, including activities that take a driver's eyes off the roadway or hands off the wheel. A malfunctioning factory-installed touchscreen can create this type of distraction even when the driver is attempting to use the vehicle's integrated system. I have found multiple reports from other 2017 Volkswagen Passat owners describing similar infotainment problems, including frozen screens and touchscreen areas that become unresponsive. This suggests that the issue may be a recurring defect rather than an isolated failure. I believe NHTSA should investigate this issue to determine whether there is a common defect affecting 2017 Volkswagen Passat infotainment systems and whether Volkswagen should provide a remedy. A factory-installed vehicle control system should respond consistently and predictably. A touchscreen that freezes, fails to register inputs, or generates unintended inputs can require additional driver attention and interaction.;
2017 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN Complaints
Ive had every now and then a steering wheel light come on then come off. Well today 9/1/26 I had lost all steering to my 2017 vw tiguan. The electronic power steering has failed and I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. And push for a recall to be made on these vehicles.;
