Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2019 Mountain Aire

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019 Mountain Aire, 2020-2021 New Aire, 2020-2022 Super Star, 2018-2021 Ventana, and Dutch Star vehicles equipped with certain Cummins diesel engines. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot boreholes, allowing the high-pressure fuel rail assembly to leak.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 1,737 units affected.

Description:: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019 Mountain Aire, 2020-2021 New Aire, 2020-2022 Super Star, 2018-2021 Ventana, and Dutch Star vehicles equipped with certain Cummins diesel engines. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot boreholes, allowing the high-pressure fuel rail assembly to leak.
Consequeces:: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Cummins service centers will inspect the rail threads and fuel lines, and replace the rail as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 24, 2021. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is Cummins 21E-32.

2019 NEWMAR MOUNTAIN AIRE Complaints
My motorhome is currently in a Freighliner shop to replace the 2nd defective DEF head in less than 19,000 miles since New. The defective DEF head causes a derate of power and total shut down and can leave you stranded on the highway or coming down a mountain pass with no power defeating the air compressor therefore no air brakes with a 45 foot, 58,000 GVW vehicle. In my case I was able to get off the highway before total shutdown only because I was aware of the built in shutdown design of the emissions system.;
2021 NEWMAR DUTCH STAR Complaints
Last week I had the air dryer filter replaced at Colton Truck Terminal in Colton Ca. Subsequently, I did the complete 7 step air brake system check and discovered that during total loss of air pressure , the emergency brakes would not auto apply. I replaced the dash hand valve and the problem still persists, so I installed the original valve and took the coach back to Colton Truck Terminal to diagnose the problem. Attached is the paper work from Colton Truck Terminal diagnosing the issue and the correction of that issue. Also on that paperwork is the vehicle information. Apparently, two air lines were crossed going into the primary air tank during chassis assembly. Once corrected, the system worked properly. I did not take it to a FL dealer because the chassis is out of warranty and Colton Truck Terminal is a well respected local repair company that almost exclusively works on Class A diesel pusher chassis. My hopes are that FL will reimburse me for this repair that was required as a result of improper initial assembly. My other concern is that there are no other chassis that may have this issue that were built around the same period. Though the emergency brakes could still be manually applied during loss of air pressure, the incorrect assembly prohibited automatic operation as required. 2021 NEWMAR NEW AIRE Complaints
The contact owns a 2021 Newmar New Aire RV. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was distorted with moving bubbles inside. The contact stated that due to the failure it was difficult to read the screen. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.;
2021 NEWMAR VENTANA Complaints
The Motorhome is equipped with a computer controlled Comfort Drive steering system ( also known as ReAX-C and other names) that is supposed to keep the vehicle going straight at all times with low steering efforts in side winds, pot holes or against the crown of the road. The Comfort Drive is supposed offer consistent steering feel and allow the driver to concentrate on driving with reduced fatigue. This system appears to only be working part of the time - and that is only when driving on a perfectly flat road with little or no wind. On a recent 4,000 mile cross country trip on Interstate highways in this vehicle with crowned roads, pot holes, construction zones and windy conditions it was a literal “white knuckle” fight to maintain steering in my lane. It was very dangerous situation every day never knowing when a gust of wind was going to blow the vehicle off the road or into another lane. I had to fight every minute to try keep this vehicle under control. I had a previous motorhome with a Comfort Drive system that was totally under control at all times. However, I have been told that this current model has a brand new totally redesigned Comfort Drive system. I have been to the Spartan Factory Service in Charlotte, MI on two separate occasions to have this Comfort Drive fixed. The first time they test drove it and said it was fine. The second time they said they used a test machine and it showed “ no faults” so it is fine. They stated they buy the “Comfort Drive” from ZF- TRW and they simply install it per Newmar request. They said it is not of their manufacture and they don’t really know much about it. I also called Newmar to see if they could help, but they say they have nothing to do with the Spartan Chassis, I need to talk to Spartan. It is “not fine”. I feel this is a serious safety situation waiting for a serious accident waiting to happen.;
