Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021 GLB 250 and AMG GLB 35 vehicles

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 GLB 250 and AMG GLB 35 vehicles. The driver-side window air bag may not have been mounted correctly to the lower area of the A-pillar. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 46 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 GLB 250 and AMG GLB 35 vehicles. The driver-side window air bag may not have been mounted correctly to the lower area of the A-pillar. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Consequeces:: The driver-side window air bag may not function properly during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the mounting of the driver-side window air bag and repair it as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

2021 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GLB35 Complaints
The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLB35. The contact stated that while reversing down the driveway at approximately 4 MPH, the contact turned the steering wheel to the left and the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated that the RPMs were extremely high and the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and occurred at slower speeds between 3 and 6 MPH. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the driver's side front axle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to a manufacturer's recall for replacing the front axle integral carrier. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturer's recall selection. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.;
2021 MERCEDES-BENZ GLB 250 Complaints
The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB250. The contact stated that the front stationary roof panel detached from the vehicle and shattered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact became aware of a recall with a similar failure; however, the VIN was not included, and the model year was not included in a recall for the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.;
