Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Western Star 4900 vehicles. The steering shaft pinch bolt may not have been properly tightened, allowing the steering shaft to separate from the steering gear.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 21 units affected.

Description:
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Western Star 4900 vehicles. The steering shaft pinch bolt may not have been properly tightened, allowing the steering shaft to separate from the steering gear.
Consequeces:
Steering shaft separation may cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:
Dealers will inspect and replace the pinch bolt as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 28, 2022. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-914.
