Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021-2022 C-Class

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, EClass Coupe/Convertible, CLS, AMG GT 4-doors Coupe, and EQS vehicles with a heated leather steering wheel. Due to a software error in the hand detection control unit, the hands-off detection might not detect when the driver's hands are away from the steering wheel when using the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC system.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 8,396 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, EClass Coupe/Convertible, CLS, AMG GT 4-doors Coupe, and EQS vehicles with a heated leather steering wheel. Due to a software error in the hand detection control unit, the hands-off detection might not detect when the driver's hands are away from the steering wheel when using the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC system.
Consequeces:: Deactivated hands-off detection will prevent DISTRONIC system features from functioning, including warnings to grab the steering wheel and calling first responders as part of the Active Emergency Stop Assist, which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the hand detection control unit software for the DISTRONIC system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 6, 2022. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2022040010.

2021 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG CLS53 Complaints
The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53. The contact stated that she drove the vehicle for two seconds when the active brake assist inadvertently engaged without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that the screen interactive system failed to properly operate, and without warning the screen illuminated then failed on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that she manually disengaged the active brake assist to prevent future accidents. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 6,890;
2022 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG E53 Complaints
It started with a humming sound in the front right wheel well and then I was driving on the freeway and my steering wheeled jerk to the right and slammed me into the side of a semi truck vehicle is available to be looked at it almost killed me. And I contacted the dealer where I bought the car from and another dealership and they both refuse to look at my car. I believe the effective component could be either the assisted steering or lane keeping and or a bad wheel bearing at manufactured;
2022 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG EQS Complaints
The contact owned a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS-Class Sedan. The contact stated that while driving over a bump, the vehicle briefly accelerated unexpectedly. Later, while parked and reaching into the rear seat, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, crossing a concrete barrier, crashing through a glass window, and crashing into a building. The brake pedal was applied, but it responded slowly before eventually stopping the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no injuries, fire, or air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The vehicle was towed to a lot, where it was subsequently damaged in a fire that started in an adjacent vehicle. The insurance company has deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact was informed that they would obtain the Black Box/Event Data Recorder (EDR). The failure mileage was approximately 25,660.;
2022 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GT43 Complaints
I was driving my car on [XXX] , 2024, on the [XXX] highway when the car suddenly started to display many errors on the dashboard/cluster. Then, while moving, the gas pedal suddenly stopped working, and at the same time, all the electrical buttons and lights started flashing. The shift didn’t work, and the gas pedal didn’t respond, which put me in danger in the middle of the highway. Luckily, no one hit my car, and I was able to pull to the side of [XXX] . I then called Mercedes Me from the car and had it towed to the dealership. Here are some of the warning lights that came on the cluster/dashboard, which put me in a very dangerous situation in the middle of the highway. It’s also worth mentioning that for the same issue, the car stayed in the dealership service for 10 days, and they returned it to me saying no issue was found. After 1-2 days of getting the car back, I faced the above situation.
