Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2022 Lexus LX 600

Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Lexus LX 600, Lexus NX 350h, Lexus NX 450h+, Toytoa RAV4 Hybrid, 2021-2022 Lexus LS 500h, Toyota Mirai, RAV4 PRIME, Sienna, Venza, and 2020-2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid vehicles. The Skid Control ECU software may not turn on the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system when the vehicle is restarted after the driver has disabled the VSC system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 458,110 units affected.

Description:: Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Lexus LX 600, Lexus NX 350h, Lexus NX 450h+, Toytoa RAV4 Hybrid, 2021-2022 Lexus LS 500h, Toyota Mirai, RAV4 PRIME, Sienna, Venza, and 2020-2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid vehicles. Consequeces:: Driving with a deactivated stability control system increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the Skid Control ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22TA03. Lexus' number for this recall is 22LA01.

2022 LEXUS NX350H Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Lexus NX350. The contact stated while at the carwash and shifting from park (P) to drive (D) the vehicle failed to respond, causing the vehicle behind to hit the rear of his vehicle. The tailgate and the rear bumper sustained minor damage. There was no warning light illuminated. The air bags did not to deploy. There was no injury sustained. The contact shifted into park, turned off, and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent out a field technician, who diagnosed that no issues were found. The manufacturer later sent an email to the contact, stating that the incident occurred due to the fact that he panicked. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.;
2022 LEXUS NX450H+ Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Lexus NX450H+. The contact stated while in reverse and exiting her driveway at approximately 3 MPH, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated in red. Additionally, she had not depressed the brake pedal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed and determined that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the sudden braking failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.;
2022 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER HYBRID Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The contact stated that the second-row seats had been making an abnormal rattling sound. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormally strong foul odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the car wash, the contact was informed that the foul odor was coming from the steering wheel. The contact stated that the foul odor was stronger while the steering heater was engaged, causing the contact to suffer from headaches. The contact stated that the foul odor was transferred to the driver's hands, requiring the driver to thoroughly wash his hands. The contact had not received medical assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was only included in the second-row seats recall. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The dealer was not yet contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.;
