Daimler Trucks North America, LLC is recalling certain 2020 Freightliner Cascadia

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2020 Freightliner Cascadia, 2020-2022 Western Star 4700 and 5700, 2022 Western Star 4900, and 2020-2023 Freightliner New Cascadia vehicles. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the Federal Certification Label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 185 units affected.

Description:: Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2020 Freightliner Cascadia, 2020-2022 Western Star 4700 and 5700, 2022 Western Star 4900, and 2020-2023 Freightliner New Cascadia vehicles. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the Federal Certification Label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. Consequeces:: An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will be replace the GAWR labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2022. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-933.

2020 FREIGHTLINER CASCADIA Complaints
The vehicle whose VIN and other identifying details are stated above was sold on May 27 by [XXX] , owner of Koza Transportation LLC, to my company, Skyturk Transportation LLC, which I established in the United States. At the time of sale, the vehicle’s mileage was represented as 395,204 miles and supported by video and photographic evidence. However, subsequent investigations revealed that the same vehicle had been listed and sold on April 29 through BidCars with a recorded mileage of 843,194 miles. This clearly shows the odometer was rolled back by the seller or individuals acting with his knowledge. The vehicle, with reduced mileage, was sold to me at a grossly inflated price. It was also later discovered to be a severely damaged/salvage vehicle, a material fact not disclosed at the time of sale. After I brought this to the seller, he initially stated he would repurchase the vehicle but later claimed he could not contact the person he bought it from and gave inconsistent statements. Information obtained thereafter confirmed these actions constitute a federal offense. Official reports have been filed with the District Attorney’s Office and the DMV through my attorney, and legal and criminal proceedings are ongoing. Due to the investigation, mileage irregularities, and the vehicle’s damaged status, it cannot be sold at this time. My authorized stay in the United States is nearing expiration. As a result of the seller’s actions, my company has been unable to operate and suffered serious financial losses, and I have personally incurred significant damages. I respectfully request necessary actions to protect my legal rights and address the damages suffered.I learned on September 18 that the odometer had been tampered with and that the vehicle I also respectfully request that necessary measures be taken to prevent the seller or any individuals acting similarly from engaging in such vehicle sales to others in the future, and that stricter penalties be applied. 2022 WESTERN STAR 5700 Complaints
We ordered a Western Star WITHOUT collision mitigation and when we got the truck it had a WABCO CMS. We have had nothing but problems of hard breaking on overpasses and bridges and false readings of cars on the other side of highway. The truck has been in FYDA Freightliner for about a month total and they "can't find anything wrong". Their suggestion was us to remove a bullguard and drive a few runs without it. The truck is inconsistent with it's safety feature, which again we have complained about since day ONE since we didn't want it to begin with.;
