Chrysler is recalling certain 2022 Ram 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Ram 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 2500, and 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles equipped with Cummins 6.7L turbo diesel engines. The engine control module (ECM) may have been built with a misaligned capacitor that can short-circuit, resulting in an internal loss of communication.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 4,907 units affected.

Description:: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Ram 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 2500, and 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles equipped with Cummins 6.7L turbo diesel engines. The engine control module (ECM) may have been built with a misaligned capacitor that can short-circuit, resulting in an internal loss of communication.
Consequeces:: An internal loss of communication can result in a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace the ECM, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 20, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z87.

2022 RAM 2500 Complaints
The contact owns a Rexing R4 MD 4-Channel Dash Camera purchased at Walmart. The camera was designed with a 4-channel dash camera system used to record the front, rear, left, and right sides of the vehicle simultaneously. The contact stated that after installing the camera on a 2022 Ram 2500, the unit failed to turn off as intended and remained continuously powered and overheated. The contact expressed safety concerns that the failure presented a fire hazard. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer via email and telephone at 877-740-8004; however, no response was received, and the telephone number was recently out of service.;
2022 RAM 3500 Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH while making a left turn, the steering wheel suddenly jerked to the left and the right. The EPS warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while in reverse, the steering wheel jerked and became firm. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, while driving at various speeds and making a left or right turn, the brakes unintendedly activated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,169.;
2022 RAM 4500 Complaints
I was driving my truck and when i came to a stop and tried to put it in reverse, I did not have reverse. After several attempts of moving the gear lever there was a loud clunk, then I had reverse. Then when I then put it into drive it would not move. The vehicle has 35,500 miles. Dealer believes its the K1 snap ring in the aisin transmission. It is still at the dealer and they believe it will takes months to get the parts. Dealer has the same issue when it was dropped off. No warning lamps or symptoms prior to attempting to put it in reverse. Vehicle just stopped moving.;
2022 RAM 5500 Complaints
Our driver told us that he lost steering. At 35 mph on a open highway (which is confirmed by our gps). He also has a clean driving record and has been driving box truck for decades with no incident. Once steering was lost the box truck to slam in into the barrier twice , than roll onto its side. There where no other cars involved in the accident and the truck is now totaled. There is so much damage done to the truck it is hard to pinpoint the failure point. The center link is broken and the tie rod end is snapped off. The truck only has 38,000 miles on it. The air bags weren't deployed and the driver had to be pulled out of the truck. The police confirmed the steering failure point on the police report. There was no warning of the failure. Until the accident.;
