Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Santa Fe, 2021-2023 Santa Fe HEV, 2022-2023 Santa Fe Plug-in HEV and Santa Cruz vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Water accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 584,784 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Santa Fe, 2021-2023 Santa Fe HEV, 2022-2023 Santa Fe Plug-in HEV and Santa Cruz vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Water accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
Consequeces:: A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Corrective action:: Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is completed. Dealers will install a new fuse and wire extension kit as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting May 16, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 244. This recall is an expansion of previous recall number 22V-633.

2023 HYUNDAI SANTA CRUZ Complaints
my 2023 Santa Cruz had 7500 miles when purchased 4/25/26. I have had issues with the screen blackening/fading which cuts of electronics; ex; safety features. This was taken in twice. Then the truck loses power. Going 55 or 75, suddenly truck drops to 20mph. Car's honk, brake & swerve not to hit us. It has been at dealers three times now for same issue. Since I've owned vehicle, it has been at dealer for 29 days tomorrow and it is still there. The truck is a death trap, always something wrong.;
2023 HYUNDAI SANTA FE Complaints
I own a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD equipped with the 2.5L turbo engine and 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. At approximately 39,900 miles, the check-engine light illuminated. Hyundai Bluelink diagnostics reported powertrain/TCU diagnostic trouble code P1C2D03, identified as a high-pressure electric oil pump motor position sensor fault. I am concerned because this same diagnostic trouble code and high-pressure electric oil pump/transmission issue was associated with Hyundai Safety Recall 236 (NHTSA Recall 22V746) involving certain earlier Santa Fe model years. Hyundai's recall documentation described the possibility of the transmission high-pressure electric oil pump malfunctioning and causing loss of motive power while driving. My vehicle is a 2023 model and therefore was not included in that earlier recall, but Hyundai has subsequently issued technical service information covering 2021–2023 Santa Fe vehicles equipped with the 2.5T engine and 8-speed wet DCT, including vehicles displaying DTC P1C2D03. The current Hyundai service procedure indicates that affected vehicles may require transmission replacement. I have stopped driving the vehicle because of my concern about a possible loss of propulsion and have scheduled an appointment with a Hyundai dealership for diagnosis. At this time, I have not experienced a loss of motive power or an accident. I am reporting the issue because a 2023 vehicle outside the original recall population is displaying the same fault code associated with the previously recalled transmission condition. I believe NHTSA should evaluate whether the affected population should include additional model years.;
2023 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HYBRID Complaints
I am submitting this formal safety complaint regarding a structural defect in my 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid that I believe poses a safety concern and warrants federal investigation under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30101 et seq.). The vehicle exhibits a persistent and recurring structural creak originating from the pinch weld area adjacent to the hybrid battery storage compartment — specifically at a metal-on-metal contact point above the rear driver-side wheel well. The noise presents most prominently at low speeds over uneven surfaces, driveway transitions, and speed bumps. The root cause, as identified by service documentation and owner community reports, is a manufacturing defect in the pinch weld construction where two metal body components make contact due to insufficient clearance tolerances. This affects the structural integrity of the body-in-white in proximity to the hybrid high-voltage battery system. III. SAFETY SIGNIFICANCE I am reporting this as a safety concern for the following reasons: •The defect involves structural body components adjacent to the high-voltage hybrid battery storage compartment. Any degradation of body structure in this area presents a potential risk of battery exposure, puncture, or damage in collision scenarios; •The metal-on-metal contact at the pinch weld constitutes an ongoing structural stress point that may accelerate fatigue and cracking of load-bearing body components over time; •The defect is present across a statistically significant number of 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid units based on online owner community documentation, suggesting a manufacturing pattern rather than an isolated anomaly; •Multiple authorized Hyundai service centers have been unable to provide a permanent repair, indicating the defect is systemic and not addressable through routine service procedures; •The proximity of the defect to hybrid drivetrain components warrants evaluation for potential regulatory compliance;
2023 HYUNDAI SANTA FE PLUG-IN HYBRID Complaints
The fuel range calculation is often very wrong in our plug in hybrid. This issue has been brought to the attention of the manufacturer and dealer with no results but pointing at the other organizations. With a full fuel tank the gasoline range should be about 387 miles. Often the computer will show 610 miles but sometimes has other ranges but has never been correct after the first fill up. While this normally isn't a big problem, there is a danger for some people. Say you see a sign on a curvy mountain road with no shoulders showing the next fuel is in 100 miles. If the car computer says you have a range of 150 miles, you would think you can easily make it to the next gas station. However, because of the computer error, you really only have a range of 95 miles. It is probable that you would run out of fuel, losing power steering and power brakes. Additionally you could end up stopped blocking the lane and causing a collision. This has been occurring for three years, ever since our first fill up of the gas tank.;
