Chrysler is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 80,629 units affected.

Description:: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Consequeces:: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-475.

2019 RAM 1500 Complaints
The cylinder that deploys the side curtain on the back passenger side spontaneously blew up in my truck. The vehicle was not currently being operated or on at the time is was parked in the driveway and was completely off. There was no forced entry and no collision it just spontaneously exploded causing roof damage, electrical damage, ceiling damage and cab light damage. The vehicle is currently parked at the dealership and has been verified by dealership that it was a mechanical malfunction with the airbag cylinder. There was no warnings that I was aware of before it exploded since it was just sitting in the driveway but from the information that was given to me by the dealerships this was an issue that fell under the Takata Airbag recalls in 2021. The only warning lights is when you start it up the airbag check system light is on the dashboard. This issue has caused me to never want to put my family in that truck again because thank god none of us were in it when it happened but this could have happened to anyone and thankfully we were not driving down the road or even in the vehicle at all. This is a major safety issue.;
2020 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Complaints
Exhaust system design defect. Original manifold system started to fail at approximately 40,000 miles, allowing CO gasses to enter vehicle cabin exposing passengers, including children, to potentially deadly exhaust fumes. Jeep, Jeep Service Centers have known since at least service bulletin 09-19-23 that the hangers and brackets used in the manifold system are not robust enough in design to “accommodate thermal expansion and engine movement without breaking or leaking.” I was never alerted to this. Addressing this via an unnoticed bulletin rather than a recall not only put me in physical danger, but ran out the clock so it could not be addressed as a warranty issue. Apparently, the manifold warps, gaskets fail, the vibration shears support bolts, and the carbon monoxide leaks into the car through the ventilation system upon warmup. Depending on severity perhaps the entire drive. Attached file is a $4200 estimate presented to me by the dealership where I originally purchased the car, preparing me for what I might have to pay out of pocket to fix the leaking exhaust system. There was no preemptive maintenance for this issue I could have had done, aside from not driving my car. Ever. I assumed when I bought the car that the manufacturer would not knowingly allow me to purchase a vehicle that pumps exhaust fumes directly into the cabin. I was wrong. This is a defect Jeep is obviously well aware of, and they chose to put their customer’s in harm’s way rather than taking action.;
