Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2023 CLS450, E450, E450 All-Terrain, AMG E53, AMG GT43, AMG GT53, and 2021 AMG CLS53 vehicles. The 48-volt ground cable connection located in the engine compartment may not be tightened properly and may result in the ground cable overheating.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 12,191 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2023 CLS450, E450, E450 All-Terrain, AMG E53, AMG GT43, AMG GT53, and 2021 AMG CLS53 vehicles. The 48-volt ground cable connection located in the engine compartment may not be tightened properly and may result in the ground cable overheating.
Consequeces:: An overheated ground cable increases the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the 48-volt ground cable connection and repair it as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 22, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024MMNNNN.

2021 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG CLS53 Complaints
The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53. The contact stated that she drove the vehicle for two seconds when the active brake assist inadvertently engaged without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that the screen interactive system failed to properly operate, and without warning the screen illuminated then failed on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that she manually disengaged the active brake assist to prevent future accidents. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 6,890;
2023 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG E53 Complaints
On Three (3) occasions, my engine has Stopped while the car was in gear and in motion. I was at great risk when this happened twice on August 7, 2024 while in traffic and my car stopped in the middle of traffic. One time I was able to coast into a parking lot. However, the second time the car stopped in the traffic lane. I was very lucky not to have been hit in the rear. In each case, I was able to restart the engine. One time I received a "Malfunction" notice on the dashboard. I immediately took the car to a Mercedes dealer for evaluation on August 8, 2024.. Dealer found Diagnostic Code P060C00 and did a "Standstll Adaption". On September 29, 2024, the engine once again stopped running while the car was in Reverse gear (Third Time) and I was backing out of a parking space. No malfunction notice appeared on the dash. I have an appointment on September 3, 2024, with the Mercedes dealer to leave the car. In all three case there has been No warning that there was a problem. The engine simply sputters and stopped. Only one "Malfunction" has appeared after the engine has stopped. The question on "speed" was not answered as I was in Stop and Go traffic on the first two times the engine stopped.;
2023 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GT43 Complaints
2023 MERCEDES GT 43 AMG, approximately one year old caught fire in the garage of our home. The car was off and sitting in the garage for approximately 10 hours prior to fire damaging the garage and parts of the house. This occurred at approximately [XXX] on [XXX]. There were 3 people in the house including [XXX]. One adult was awake at the time and alerted to the smell of smoke coming from the garage. Everyone was evacuated and the fire department was called. Upon arriving, garage was opened and front of Mercedes was in flames. Fire was put out by the fire department. The vehicle has since been inspected by car insurance, Mercedes corporate and fire department. The car has been deemed a total loss. There were no warning lamps, messages or anything else going on with the car prior to fire. The car is currently in the hands of State Farm and is available for inspection upon request. 2023 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GT53 Complaints
Was traveling to Ft. Worth to babysit my grandchildren and when I was on the freeway in afternoon traffic my car was not accelerating and I kept stepping on the gas and the car started to get slower and then all of a sudden it completely stopped in the middle of traffic(I didn't pull over to the side like Mercedes stated, it stopped in the middle lane of the freeway, the engine light was on) and I had to locate the hazard lights so no one would run into the back of my car. When it stopped, I had to put it in park and restart the car. I thank God that my grandchildren weren't with me or that someone didn't hit the back of the car. I ask Siri to find the nearest dealership and it was Mercedes-Benz of Grapevine, proceeded to go there first. They called me the next morning and told me it was the Fuel Pump. Then on Jan. 16, 2026, I took my car in for routine maintenance and they found a leak on the Front Differential and they practically removed the whole engine to fix the leak. Had this fix on Jan 20, 2026 This car just turn 2 years old on Dec. 23. Contacted the corporate office as I was directed by the Service Director, Richey Barnes and was told that before they could do anything it had to break down again or anything major. I told them that I have my young grandchildren with me since I often have to babysit them and he told me that there was nothing he could do.;
2023 MERCEDES-BENZ CLS 450 Complaints
Description of Defect: I am reporting a chronic and dangerous structural failure of the factory-equipped alloy wheels on my 2023 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 4MATIC. Since purchase, this vehicle has suffered 8 documented incidents of wheel failure, consisting of 5 rim cracks and 3 complete wheel replacements. The failures are occurring under normal, paved driving conditions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This persistent cracking indicates a severe structural design defect where the wheel’s load rating is insufficient for the vehicle’s weight and low-profile tire configuration. Safety Risk: Each failure results in sudden and unpredictable loss of tire pressure. This creates a high risk of catastrophic tire deflation (blowouts) at highway speeds, which can lead to loss of vehicle control. Despite 7 prior repair/replacement attempts by both authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships (Park Place Dallas) and independent specialists, the defect persists. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for its 8th failure. I believe this wheel configuration is fundamentally unfit for purpose and poses a recurring threat to the safety of the driver, passengers, and other motorists.;
