Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020-2023 GLE 450 and GLS 450 vehicles. The transmission may not fully downshift in certain conditions, causing the engine to stall.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 105,071 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020-2023 GLE 450 and GLS 450 vehicles. The transmission may not fully downshift in certain conditions, causing the engine to stall.
Consequeces:: An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the transmission control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

2020 MERCEDES-BENZ GLS 450 Complaints
AMENDMENT TO ACTIVE CASE 11723015. CRITICAL AIRBAG & SAFETY DEFECTS. This files a safety defect amendment to open case 11723015. Diagnostic scans confirm central data bus network collapse on VIN [XXX] has migrated into safety-critical occupant restraint and visibility modules, violating 49 U.S.C. § 30118. I. AIRBAG & RESTRAINT HAZARDS Scans from [XXX], document active faults: DTC U042782: "Implausible data received from Electronic Ignition Lock." The SRS module receives corrupted data from the failed ignition gateway, creating risk of airbag non-deployment. DTC B007A13: Passenger seatbelt pre-tensioner open circuit; occupants are unprotected against crash displacement. DTC B11FA4B: Active "Overtemperature" faults in heating elements indicate localized thermal short-circuit risk. II. HARDWARE DECAY Physical teardown confirmed structural oxidation on the central gateway motherboard and corroded connector pins. Modular swaps failed; network lock code U016887 returned within 8 months. Raw dealer records are available for federal inspection. 2021 MERCEDES-BENZ GLS450 Complaints
Both rear wheels on this vehicle have developed cracks which leads to tire pressure loss. Apparently, this is a common issue with Mercedes' heavier vehicles like the GLS and S series sedans. To be clear, I did not hit anything. I did not do any unusual driving. Both rear tires are fine. While you expect that certain components on a vehicle will have problems, it is also reasonable to expect that wheels will not crack prematuraly. Mercedes is aware of the problems. They were named in a class action lawsuit that was dismissed because cars were out of warranty. Warranty or no warranty, this is a major safety issue as a loss in tire pressure can be catastrophic.;
2023 MERCEDES-BENZ GLE 450 Complaints
On [XXX] Safelite attempted to repair a chip in my windshield but the repair was unsuccessful due to the size of the chip and it ran across the windshield from the top middle to the passenger side. I contacted my insurance company, USAA, and Safelite to get the windshield replaced and was informed there was a nationwide backlog in windshields for these vehicles, a 2023 Mercedes Benz GLE450 SUV 4Matic. Since then, I have called multiple MB dealerships, as well as USAA and Safelite on several occasions and each time, was told I am on a list of owners waiting for these windshields. There are no after-market versions of this windshield so it has to be an OEM windshield. I bought the car new in September 2024 from the MB dealership in Westminster, Colorado. I am driving an unsafe vehicle and cannot get it fixed. I have emailed Mercedes Benz Customer Service but have not received a response. Each dealership is keeping their own list of owners who need replacement windshields, and they claim they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. I want to sell the vehicle and never buy another Mercedes, but I cannot sell it with a broken windshield. How is this manufacturer allowed to do business like this in the United States? 2023 MERCEDES-BENZ GLS 450 4MATIC Complaints
The car recently underwent a software update at the dealership for a backup camera issue. When I was driving home on the highway, the car suddenly braked and the seat belts automatically tightened up. This happened 3 additional times on the highway about 5 days later. I had turned off the automatic braking system and it seemed to go away. Then, with the system off, we experienced this again yesterday while on the highway at 70mph. The braking lasts for 1-3 seconds. There is no audible alert or dashboard display. IT renders the car quite unstable as it feels as though the rear brakes are being activated before the front. I reported this to the dealership and they want to inspect the car.;
