Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2023 Mirai

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Mirai, Lexus LS500, LS500H, 2023-2024 Lexus ES250, ES300H, ES350, 2024 Lexus LC500, and LC500H vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. Due to incorrect programming of the parking-assist electronic control unit (ECU) software, the rearview camera image may not immediately display within a couple of seconds after the shifter is placed into reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 18,616 units affected.

Consequeces:: A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the parking assist ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TA01 and 24LA01.

2023 LEXUS LS Complaints
Driver's seat is painful after 15 minutes. It is available for inspection. Causing shifting of position and pinching of nerves reduced feeling to foot. Problem has not been confirmed by dealer. Vehicle has been inspected by manufactures dealer. Problem first appeared 7/26/2025;
2023 TOYOTA MIRAI Complaints
While driving in traffic, my 2023 Toyota Mirai suffered a sudden and total loss of motive power. The vehicle became completely unresponsive while in 'Drive', presenting a severe safety hazard. The dashboard displayed multiple cascading warnings, including 'FCV System Malfunction', 'Pre-Collision System Malfunction', and 'PKSB Malfunction'. The vehicle had to be towed to Dublin Toyota (Repair Order #653103). The dealership retrieved critical diagnostic code P1DC500 (FC AIR PRESSURE TOO HIGH) and verified the vehicle would not go into 'Ready' mode. The dealer opened Toyota TAS Case #TA26079027. However, the dealership performed no mechanical repairs to address the root cause of the sudden power loss. They simply cleared the safety code, test drove it, and explicitly wrote on the final invoice: 'ADVICE CUSTOMER TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL PROBLEM OCCUR'. Furthermore, they refused to document my stated concerns that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Returning a vehicle to a customer with an unresolved, life-threatening defect that causes total loss of power at speed is incredibly dangerous.;
2024 LEXUS ES Complaints
The contact owns a 2024 Lexus ES 300h. The contact stated that while his wife was in reverse (R) and backing up into a parking space at approximately 2 MPH, she crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact stated that his wife did not hear the rear collision proximity alarm, and the vehicle did not automatically brake. The contact stated that the other vehicle was not damaged, but the contact's vehicle had damage to the driver's rear bumper and trunk. The contact stated that his wife was able to drive the vehicle away. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure and advised that all collision avoidance sensors were operating normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.;
