Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2022 EQB 300 and EQB 350 vehicles

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022 EQB 300 and EQB 350 vehicles. The welded spur gear within the front axle electric drivetrain may not have been welded properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 114, "Theft Protection."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 283 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022 EQB 300 and EQB 350 vehicles. The welded spur gear within the front axle electric drivetrain may not have been welded properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 114, "Theft Protection."
Consequeces:: An improperly welded spur gear can fail and result in a vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace the front axle electric drivetrain, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 9, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024060007.

The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number 26V073000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted; however the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. ;
2022 MERCEDES-BENZ EQB 350 4MATIC Complaints
My 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC (VIN [XXX]) is subject to NHTSA Recall 26V073 / MBUSA campaign 2026020004 for a high-voltage battery defect that may cause a thermal event/fire while parked or driving. Mercedes-Benz has determined that the permanent remedy requires replacement of the high-voltage battery, but MBUSA has confirmed that a replacement battery is not currently available for my VIN and has provided no firm repair date. Pending repair, Mercedes instructs owners to limit charging to 80% and park outside rather than in a garage or enclosed structure. These restrictions materially impair normal use. My wife's work requires frequent travel between [XXX] and [XXX], plus secure indoor garage parking at federal government facilities. The 80% charge restriction reduces usable range, while the required indoor parking conflicts with Mercedes' safety guidance. MBUSA has also confirmed in writing that my VIN is currently subject to a recall-related stop-sale and that sale restrictions remain until the recall remedy becomes available. An authorized Mercedes dealer has declined to provide a normal trade valuation because of the recall/stop-sale situation. MBUSA reviewed and denied my repurchase request, offering only possible loaner, storage, or rental assistance. I am filing this complaint to document that the permanent safety remedy is unavailable, the interim restrictions materially impair use, and the vehicle is under stop-sale with no firm remedy date.
