Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, Lexus TX350, TX500 Hybrid, and TX550 Hybrid+ vehicles. The driver and passenger side curtain air bags may not unroll as intended and could partially deploy outside of an open window. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

The recall was influenced by the Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance with about 145,254 units affected.

Description:: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, Lexus TX350, TX500 Hybrid, and TX550 Hybrid+ vehicles. The driver and passenger side curtain air bags may not unroll as intended and could partially deploy outside of an open window. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Consequeces:: An improper deployment of the side curtain air bag can reduce occupant protection during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace the driver and passenger curtain shield air bag assemblies, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB09/24TA09 and Lexus' numbers are 24LB05/24LA05.

I had my foot on the brakes waiting at a red light. The car just started jerking back and forth. It didn’t stop until I released my foot off the brake.;
2024 LEXUS TX HYBRID Complaints
The contact owns a 2024 Lexus TX 500H. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off and attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel tank door release button was depressed multiple times however, the fuel door did not open until after several attempts. The contact removed the plastic panel from the wheel well and pulled the fuel tank door lever manually and opened the fuel door. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.;
2024 TOYOTA GRAND HIGHLANDER Complaints
If my car has been sitting for a while, especially in the heat, and occasionally at random times, when you get in the car and press the gas, the car will not move. This happened twice where I was almost put in a very bad accident. There is a very hard intersection near my son’s school. I have to take a left hand turn- and you have to be quick because there is no light. I turned left and my car would not go- I was stuck in oncoming traffic and the car would not move whatsoever. It was very dangerous and very scary. This has happened where it almost caused a very bad accident becuase the gas pedal would not move the car. The dealership couldn’t replicate and said it wasn’t an issue. But it is continuing to happen, and it is very dangerous. Maybe it has something to do with the battery getting hot and somehow power doesn’t get to the gas/engine e;
2024 TOYOTA GRAND HIGHLANDER HYBRID Complaints
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid. The contact stated while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle failed to respond within 2-3 seconds and was nearly T-boned by another vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently while accelerating from a complete stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a field technician to diagnose the vehicle, who determined that the turbo needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the turbo; however, the failure recurred. The dealer reset the hybrid system and an unknown system several times; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact's wife had informed the contact that the vehicle shuddered significantly while idling. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.;
