BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2015 6 Series Gran Coupe, 2014 5 Series Gran Turismo, 2014 5 Series Sedan, 2015 6 Series Convertible, 2015 6 Series Coupe, 2014 X5, 2013-2014 X3, 2014-2015 3 Series Sedan, 2014 4 Series Coupe, 2014 4 Series Convertible, 2014 3 Series Gran Turismo, and 2015 4 Series Gran Coupe vehicles. Please see the recall report for the complete list of models. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.

Description:: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2015 6 Series Gran Coupe, 2014 5 Series Gran Turismo, 2014 5 Series Sedan, 2015 6 Series Convertible, 2015 6 Series Coupe, 2014 X5, 2013-2014 X3, 2014-2015 3 Series Sedan, 2014 4 Series Coupe, 2014 4 Series Convertible, 2014 3 Series Gran Turismo, and 2015 4 Series Gran Coupe vehicles. Please see the recall report for the complete list of models. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
Consequeces:: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, increasing the risk of injury or death.
Corrective action:: The driver's front air bag will be replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

2014 BMW 328D Complaints
1.) The Bosch CP4 High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP), OEM part number 13517824477 / 0445010517, failed catastrophically. This is the factory-installed pump on the 2014 BMW 328d equipped with the N47 diesel engine. Upon failure, the pump's internal cam and roller assembly disintegrated, releasing metal shavings throughout the entire fuel system — contaminating the fuel lines, injectors, fuel rail, and fuel tank. The vehicle will not start. The failed pump and contaminated fuel system components are available for inspection upon request. 2.) The vehicle experienced a sudden, complete loss of motive power with no prior warning, rendering it unable to start or operate. This type of failure — as documented in NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA23-001 — is known to also occur while the vehicle is in motion, causing unexpected engine stall at highway speeds with no ability to restart. This creates an immediate risk of rear-end collision, loss of vehicle control, and danger to other motorists. The failure provides no warning to the driver and cannot be prevented through normal maintenance practices. 3.) Yes. The high-pressure fuel pump failure and presence of metal shavings throughout the fuel system have been confirmed by a BMW authorized dealership. The dealer has documented the failure and provided a repair estimate for full fuel system replacement — including the HPFP, injectors, fuel lines, and tank cleaning — at an estimated cost of $10,000–$15,000. BMW of North America has declined warranty coverage citing that the vehicle has exceeded the 120,000-mile threshold under Recall 21V-586, despite this being the identical defect covered by that recall. 4.) Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by a independent BMW Specialist 5.) Check engine light was present;
2014 BMW 435I Complaints
The contact owns a 2014 BMW 435I. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off, the battery discharged abnormally. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the water pump had remained running unexpectedly when the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign: 24V608000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.;

car was brought in for a recall could erupt fire from engine and electrical brought car to bmw 8/2025 have checked list when brought in car was in perfect condition per bmw .pick up car checked engine light was on brought back immediately manager took to shop and cleared light immediately came back on i called them then i drive screen was saying low coolant oil low drivetrain overheating oil leaks burning smell coolant smell etc called bmw na service manager etc waited for appointment 1/26 bmw had for 8 days only to say it had nothing to do with recall car now has no power excessive smoke smell undriveable been in garage for 3 months if ran would catch on fire ??;
2014 BMW 535D Complaints
Am experiencing repeat high-pressure fuel pump (hpfp/cp4) failure on my 2014 bmw 535d. First incident was covered an extended warranty. Policy then with the second being cover under then recently issued recall of the matter. Now i am experiencing however another cp4 failure with the dealership refusing to cover the repair saying the recall was completed . Given that the vehicle already received bmw corrective action for this known issue and the same component has now failed again, CP4 failures are a well known document concern with the diesel bmw community and this failure creates potential safety risk(stalling) I believe it is reasonable to expect bmw to participate in covering this repair under goodwill consideration. I have maintained the vehicle responsibly.;
2014 BMW 535I Complaints
This is a known and unaddressed issue. BMW headlight seals fail allowing condensation to build and erode electronics. Replacement costs exceed $15K and only OEM parts and BMW servicing are options. Many BMW repair shops refuse to do this work as it is overly complicated and expensive. This issue is well known and document and warrants compensation and/or recall.;
