Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 54,647 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Consequeces:: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update engine control module software. In addition, dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning September 9, 2024. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 262 and 023G.

2022 HYUNDAI VELOSTER N Complaints
On August 15, 2026, while driving my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N, the electric power steering assist intermittently became noticeably heavier than normal. The vehicle’s steering remained mechanically controllable, but the increased steering effort was noticeable and raised a safety concern because the loss or reduction of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was being driven. I scanned the vehicle and found diagnostic trouble code C129002 in the EPS/MDPS system, described as a torque sensor signal fault. I also found DTC C168886 in the LKAS system. Both codes were reported as open at approximately 80,252 miles. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it, normal steering assist returned. The problem has since been intermittent, with the steering currently feeling normal, but the diagnostic codes were previously active and the vehicle experienced an actual change in steering effort while driving. This is not the first intermittent issue I have experienced with the vehicle. A similar steering-assist problem occurred a couple of months earlier. The vehicle has also experienced intermittent power loss on other occasions. I previously brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for the intermittent power-loss concern, but the dealer was unable to reproduce or confirm the problem at that time. I do not know whether the intermittent power-loss issue is related to the steering-assist problem. The current steering problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer or independent repair facility. I am concerned that an intermittent loss or reduction of electric power steering assist could recur unexpectedly while driving and increase the risk of losing adequate steering control, particularly at higher speeds or during an emergency maneuver.;
2023 GENESIS G70 Complaints
The contact owns a 2023 Genesis G70. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the "Turn Signal Error" message was displayed and an orange master warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence, where the contact noticed condensation in the passenger’s side headlight. The contact stated that the passenger’s side turn signal bulb was replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and it was determined that the passenger’s side headlight was damaged by an object. The vehicle was not repaired. The insurance company was informed of the issue and notified the contact that the issues were related to common stress factors. The vehicle was then taken to an auto body shop, where it was determined that the seals of the passenger’s side headlight had cracks or holes, causing condensation and water to enter the headlight assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that a week later, the driver's side headlight had a similar failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that an impact might have caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was submitted. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.;
2023 HYUNDAI ELANTRA N Complaints
Throw out bearing leak, resulting in excessive loss of brake fluid and potential for reduced braking ability. Low brake fluid warning light illuminated and was reported to Suburban Hyundai of Troy around 6,000 miles and again around 10,000 miles. Dealer confirmed leak was occurring at throw out bearing, and impacted clutch friction material as well, which could result in a potential inability to accelerate depending on fluid accumulation on clutch. Upon confirmation, dealer replaced throw out bearing, clutch, and perfomed brake fluid flush.;
2023 HYUNDAI KONA N Complaints
The knock sensor on the engine fails when exposed to any amount of water. The car is designed in a way that lets on too much. It’s something that is VERY common amongst owners of these vehicles. It’s a safety flaw that needs to be fixed because it puts the car in “limp” mode. That makes the car instantly halt acceleration. Please hold Hyundai accountable;
