BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2024 X1, X5, X6, X7, XM, 530i, i5, 740i, 760i, i7, and 750e vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 11,579 units affected.

Description:: BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2024 X1, X5, X6, X7, XM, 530i, i5, 740i, 760i, i7, and 750e vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.
Consequeces:: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace the integrated brake module, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed November 22, 2024. Second letters will be mailed once the parts are available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicles in this recall were previously repaired under recall number 24V-104 and will need to have the new remedy completed.

2023 BMW X1 Complaints
In November 2025, I was driving an errand on city streets in a neighborhood. Speed was approximately 30-35MPH. Two lane road. There were no hazards in the road and while I was descending down a hill, my forward collision/emergency braking system activating, causing my vehicle to come to a complete and full stop from road speed. This had happened several other times when reversing out of parking spots into traffic or driving position but since the speed was slow and I do have cross traffic/collision avoidance, I initially I assume it was related to surrounding vegetation and sensor sensitivity. The issue happened again in December 2025 but I was moving at a much slower pace. In May 2025, I had the BMW integrated braking system recall addressed (NHTS #24V1040034860200). However, per the NHTSAA website, it appears there was a subsequent recall/safety repair required for the exact same issue, NHTS Recall #24V739000. I was not aware of this; was not notified by the dealership nor BMW and it could correlate to this issue. On June 4, 2026, I took my BMW to the BMW of El Cajon dealership in order to investigate the issue, as well as to address a nail in a tire and a brake warning light. Prior to attending the appointment, I noted the second recall for the braking system. However, the dealership is not checking or simply stating that there is no open recall on my vehicle which does not correlate with the NHTSA website. I am pushing this issue up the administrative chain of command but am very concerned. The dealership is simply attempting to replicate the issue without further investigation and refused to check the computer system nor the equipment replaced in May 2025 to confirm that there are no mechanical/system failures. Had this issue occurred on a freeway, I would have been in HUGE danger. I request that the NHTSA look into BMW and, specifically, this dealerships handling of mandatory safety recalls.;
2024 BMW 530I Complaints
Concern: The 2024 BMW 530i is equipped with "Dynamic Cruise Control" and a "Speed Limit Assistant." The system is designed to automatically adopt posted speed limits and adjust the cruise control set speed. However, because this specific trim lacks a radar-based distance-monitoring sensor (Active Cruise Control), the vehicle initiates aggressive, unintended acceleration toward slower-moving traffic or stopped obstacles whenever it detects a higher speed limit sign. Safety Risk: While the vehicle is using its cameras to "see" and adopt an external speed command, it remains "blind" to the actual traffic directly in its path. This creates a high risk of rear-end collisions, as the car will prioritize reaching the new speed limit even if it means accelerating directly into the bumper of a lead vehicle. Proposed Solution: A "Dynamic" cruise control system that has the authority to control acceleration based on external data MUST also have the authority to maintain a safe following distance. I propose that BMW should be required to include distance-monitoring features in all cruise control systems that utilize automated speed adoption. If the hardware for distance-keeping is not present, the car should not be permitted to automatically increase speed based on roadside signs. Inspection Status: The vehicle is available for inspection. No warning lamps appeared prior to these incidents, as the system is operating exactly as programmed by the manufacturer, which highlights a fundamental logic and design failure.;
2024 BMW 740I Complaints
My car is about 1.5 yers old, bmw 740i. I have been towed back to the dealer twice now for the same issue.i live in Illinois and work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so I drive on the expressway a lot. I received the following message on my display while driving at 75-80 mph. The message is “ inability to drive.” I have received this 3 times. When it occurs the steering is more difficult and, I am told starts to shut down major systems, so needlessly to say quite unnerving and I had difficulty getting onto the shoulder. The first occurrence was last year in October (2024). I was afraid to drive the car when everyone else was travelling at high speeds. So had it towed to dealer. The dealer did not seem to understand this message and why it happened, and even what would happen. They did a software upgrade and told me it was fixed. On [XXX] it happened again, same message although different look with the software upgrade, and had to be towed. I don’t trust the car since no one can tell me why this is happening and what it does. The dealer said they are not familiar with it. I told them we have read online that others have had this happen, but no recalls or information. If this message is in the software there has to be a data dictionary that explains, 1) what triggers it, 2) why, 3) what does it do, and 4) can it be disabled. No one seems to know, and it is putting me at risk of an accident, that no one understands. I am afraid to drive the car. If I am in an accident because of this bmw should libel. Please help!
