Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC, and S 580 4MATIC vehicles. The bolts that secure the rear axle differential to the rear axle carrier may come loose, which can result in a separation of the drive shaft from the rear axle differential.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 3 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC, and S 580 4MATIC vehicles. The bolts that secure the rear axle differential to the rear axle carrier may come loose, which can result in a separation of the drive shaft from the rear axle differential.
Consequeces:: Driveshaft separation can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will repair the rear axle differential bolt connection as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 10, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024120005.

Service Department Misconduct —XXX Appointment On XXX, I brought my vehicle to the dealership’s service department for a pre-scheduled and confirmed appointment regarding a safety-related warning involving the emergency brake system. Despite having provided a full description of the issue at the time of booking, I was informed upon arrival that the diagnostic process would take more than five hours. When I asked about a loaner vehicle — standard practice at Mercedes-Benz dealerships in cases of extended service — I was refused, even though five courtesy vehicles were visibly parked on the lot and at least two other customers who arrived after me were provided loaners and expedited service that same day. I was made to wait in the lobby for the entire day. At approximately 5:00 p.m., just before closing, and despite no diagnostic work having been performed on my vehicle, a loaner vehicle was suddenly made available to me. This inconsistent and apparently discriminatory treatment in the allocation of loaner vehicles and service priority is unacceptable and warrants review. 3. Lack of Communication and Missing Documentation Following Service The technician assigned to my vehicle, [XXX], told me he would call me on Monday, XXX, once diagnostics were complete. He did not call. Instead, I received only an automated text message on Tuesday, XXX, stating the vehicle was ready — with no phone call, no email, and no explanation or summary of the work performed, contrary to standard practice at other Mercedes-Benz dealerships I have used. When I called to follow up, the technician did not answer despite multiple voicemails. I called the service department directly and asked for a supervisor; none was made available. After approximately one hour of calling the main dealership line, a sales associate attempted to reach the service department on my behalf and also received no answer. 2024 MERCEDES-BENZ S 580 4MATIC Complaints
I am reporting a recurring transmission/drivability issue with my 2024 Mercedes-Benz S580. The vehicle has been experiencing a harsh, abnormal shift between approximately 3rd and 4th gear at around 25–35 mph during normal acceleration. The shift feels like a sudden jerk or hesitation and does not feel consistent with normal operation. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership multiple times for this issue. On a recent visit (February 9, 2026), a drive technician rode along and personally experienced the harsh shifting during a test drive. The dealership later confirmed in writing that the harsh shift was duplicated and documented on the repair order. Despite prior service visits, the problem continues to occur intermittently. It has happened again after the most recent service. In addition to the shifting concern, the vehicle has previously experienced power-related issues and steering/driver-assist warnings. There are not always warning lights before the harsh shift occurs. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Because the shifting happens during normal acceleration at city speeds, it feels unpredictable and concerning from a safety standpoint.;
