Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150 Lightning BEV vehicles

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150 Lightning BEV vehicles. The front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been tightened properly, allowing the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 29,501 units affected.

Description:: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150 Lightning BEV vehicles. The front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been tightened properly, allowing the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly.
Consequeces:: A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle steering and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the upper control arm ball joint nut, and replace the nut and/or knuckle assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 6, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S76. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V949.

On August 19, 2026, I was involved in a collision in my 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning after a suspected malfunction involving the automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and/or acceleration controls. Cruise control was on; BlueCruise was not. While on an exit ramp, I heard a loud warning beep, experienced automatic braking, and then felt the truck suddenly accelerate into the vehicle ahead. The unexpected braking and acceleration compromised my ability to control the truck and avoid a collision, putting me and occupants of the other vehicle at risk. I am concerned about driving this vehicle again, including with my daughter. Before the collision, I experienced three incidents in which the automatic brakes activated when no vehicles were around. I also reported a warning/error during a December 2025 service visit. The service record documents that visit; I do not know whether that issue is related to the collision. The loud warning beep occurred immediately before the collision. The truck has been at a Ford dealership for evaluation and is available for inspection upon request. The dealership has not confirmed or reproduced the suspected malfunction. The service manager told me its diagnostic testing would not necessarily show what happened during the incident and indicated limitations in obtaining crash-related data. I am requesting further investigation into the braking, cruise control, and acceleration systems. Ford Corporate and State Farm have been notified. I cannot confirm whether Ford Corporate, police, or insurance representatives have performed a technical inspection of these systems or retrieved event data. The cause remains unconfirmed.;
